  1. Thank you both ... I have just printed off the forms to read and gone through the website its well not easy to navigate but i think i got the jist in the end ahhhh .... We wont I hope have alot to ship out more like a couple of teachest boxes type thing just stuff I cant part with.... so I will look into Move cube - with the pets its just 2 cats... mid to small sized... one came out from Scotland 8 years ago and they both have all the shots they needed etc..
  2. So Im an Aussie and my hubby is a UK Citizen with a house in Scotland. Sadly Im one generation out of using grandparents they were born here in Oz. My child is grown up and out of home and doesn't want to go back so it will just be my husband and I who have been married for 8 years this year. After the passing of my father we think its time to go back to Scotland where my husband has house and family as his mum and dad are getting on and need help too. We are looking at around April next year to return. I dont know where to even start many years ago I posted some questions but I figure its all changed now. Can someone point me in the right direction on what visa I will need and medical tests etc and pets ... I will need to know about that too and cost of boxes to be shipped (slow boat) over as well, l where do I look and who to trust etc. Has anyone done visa without the $6000+ tag or is it better to use an agency and pay the $6000+ as I said just confused and dont know where to start. Appreciate any and all feedback as this is very daunting to figure out where to even start - and sort out time frames for pets and us and visas etc and time goes so quickly.
  3. Thank you so much everyone I have been away and just got to computer today. I will definitely go research into the links and feel a little more hopeful AwdAmr I should have said we will meet the income requirements with the job offer he has so thats covered we have a house to go back to as well so thats covered. I have been in discussions with an agency who after much info told me that we well I will be eligible for a visa and I will have to pay an additional 600 pound with the visa but couldn't confirm if that meant i would be entitled to NHS care as long as the visa is valid thats where we were getting confused and unsure. BacktoDemocracy dont think i will be eligible for welfare for 3 years or more till i am a citizen... thats how it was explained to me.. so I would have to work part time, the job my husband has been offered is a well paid one so me working part time will just top things up. tea4too.. wow thanks for the tip on this site ... I have downloaded and printed out information and am actually thinking it might be ok ... so thank you again Nemesis... I thought I was covered but was unsure with meds how it worked etc. The agency told me about the 600 pound extra and told me about the reciprocal agreement with Australia but couldnt / wouldnt confirm if it applied to me with my conditions.. Ali thanks for your advice too we well I do apparently qualify as he has been offered a job over 20,000 pound plus we both have savings in banks in the UK as well to help us with our start up we are lucky to be going back to a private house fully furnished as well. My health concerns were really the only thing that was holding us back on things we were scared to get there and find we would be up for thousands of pounds in drs fees etc. ScottieGirl again thank you too for the advice its all appreciated. Great idea on the thyroxine too hadnt thought of that either so great advice You guys are great its hard enough to be thinking of the move, let alone to think of all this as well and not knowing where to ask questions its not easy so thank you again for the info xx
  4. Been a couple of years since last here. My hubby is from Scotland has a house and also has a friend who is prepared to offer a job when we are ready to return. We were going to return a couple of years ago but decided to stick it out in Australia. Here in Oz I get a partial disability pension basically only covers medications on health card due to our incomes as I work part time. I hope to get part time work when we go to Scotland if not I can work from home in photo restoration work. But what concerns us is I have a genetic condition that limits me with working full time - will this go against us in our visa application that Im not of full health - how will this play with getting our visa for me. I have had conflicting info told NHS will cover me as in the visa there is a built in amount to cover the NHS ... to there is a reciprocal arrangement with Australia and as I have medicare here I would be covered there. I need to see a dr at least once a month for medications (bp, pain meds and thyroid), out here I see physio to help with dislocations approx once a month, I know i will have to pay for physio as i do here. My question does anyone know where i can get some accurate info from ? I have a friend whos a dr in UK but psychology is his field and he said it should, he works at a hospital and says as far as he knows I would be covered but we need to know more... someone said I would need to take out private health insurance as well as the visa extra amount .... but Im unsure on levels over there. I just need somewhere to start as there are so many different web pages and all say different conflicting things ahhhhhhhh My hubbys gran died late last year and hes even more homesick than before so we would really like to go back to where his home and family are. My family are no where near by here so it will be nice to have close family to lean on when needed etc and to support his mum too so she has her son back on the same side of the world. Thanks for advice n help its all greatly appreciated
  5. We were looking at my 17 year old will be finished school and going before he turns 18 ... but my hubby said he has been advised by someone that its better if he is already 18 and can apply for working and travel visa on his own rather than come as my child... any advise on hearing that ??
  6. Thanks Bungo I was all i could find was the bits on fiance visas etc.. and I was but we have been married for 5 years heheh. I read somewhere that they required packing in plastic large containers... but if boxes ok that would be better will look into calling some tomorrow to sort out info n price approx too thanks for the list. We have proof of income and savings over there so thats a bonus all good on that front. You guys are all so helpful thank you again
  7. thank you i have printed this so we know who and where to start. We wont be shipping any large furniture thinking Move cube small
  8. So no European ancestry either. Will have a good look at the spouse visa and try and get some info from there. Thanks for the tips
  9. My hubby is a British Passport holder and we have been married for 5 years here in Oz. We are looking at moving back to Scotland around November next year 2017, need to sort out what sort of visa we need to get for my 17 yr old son at that stage and myself. 1.How does it work with NHS for my son and I do we need to have private insurance ? What are the processes we need to start investigating... do we apply for nhs number before or after we get there I did read that there is IHS ? NHS ? Rather confused. I understand no disability pension over there which will be hard as I have a genetic condition Ehlers danlos syndrome and need help but if I can with medical expenses that is what I need ie medicines I regularly take. So besides that I guess I just dont know where to start 2. what visa is needed I have read on spousal visas but they seem to indicate due to get married not existing marriage ... costs and time frames dont want to leave it too late if its going to take 6 months or so to process etc. 3. Álso have a pet to ship over a cat and possibly half a container to go by slow ship to Scotland and dont know where to start on that too.. can i pack essentials into plastic storage tubs. 4. If i have read correct he would need employment letter guaranteeing 18,500 + 4,000 for child = 22,500 per annum 5. I have a bank account with funds in it. My hubby still has accounts running too. Do we need to have a certain amount in savings in UK ? 6. Is there anything else that I have missed on my list to start to look into ?? 7. Also lastly is it recommended to use agent for this or is it easy to do yourself ? Any and all advice is needed and appreciated. Kind regards Allymd01
  10. Hello Marisa Sorry to bother you ... Im just confused and dont know where to start. My hubby is from UK and after 5 years in Oz he is miserable and we are thinking of going back .... but our problem isnt the 18500 in job offer we can get that but its Im on a disability payment here in Oz due to genetic condition, and require drs visits 1 per month for meds etc... what is stopping us is my health as we think I will have to pay for everything up front... I noticed you put you are also covered by the NHS but not benefits .. would that apply to a spouse ? I dont want benefits we could survive with out and I can work part time as i do now.. but its the medical side I need some help with. I dont even know where to start to get some information just wasnt sure if you or anyone on here hade any ideas.. thank you for any advice or pointers in advance
  11. Thanks Scottydog, I spoke to someone today from an agency... he said that we can apply once i have been in work for 12 months then we could apply but I would need to have a job offer a contract of sorts before the visa would be granted that if I needed to return before my wife and sons visas were granted then all they would need is a notorised copy of my b/certif and passport. And the process takes approx 4-6 weeks.. will give him another call tomorrow and drill him a bit more on some facts.. he did say for both my wife and stepson that it would be an income of 22400per annum. thanks for the info though gives me something to question further etc. :xmas23:
