  1. Thanks for the comments - it sounds good! Hi Roger - my wife and I are retired sheep farmers, so no requirement to work! We are already in e-mail contact with you, I think, and I'll e-mail you a few days before I fly to Oz to see if we can arrange to meet.
  2. Hi - Does anyone live at Cooroy? I'll be visiting in April house-hunting and would appreciate information about the area.
  3. I believe that I had the same problem. It took 4 months to resolve with DIAC, and their explanation of the problem is below. I neither understood the cause of the problem, nor the DIAC "explanation" "I have now been able to rectify the matter. The medical results were not transferred to the Departmental System from the health provider. As I had indicated previously to you I could see from the documents sent to me that your client had been medically cleared. What my manager did was confirm this was the case and give permission to continue the case until the medical clearance could be transferred or overridden. This was done only after gaining access to the third party system and the medical results have now been confirmed and the system overridden. There appeared to be some issues with your client's results being incorrectly recorded in the Medibank system, this is a matter I will be taking up with the provider. The DI can be lodged as your client's record has been appropriately updated as being medically cleared. I will sent you a formal DI invite
  4. Hi Daisygeorge, Could you please PM me with contact details of the estate agents where you work. I'll then call in when I'm house hunting in Buderim. Regards Bill Greenaway
  5. Hi, My wife and I will be moving to the Sunshine Coast later this year and, like you, I will be making a preliminary trip to "investigate" - a little later than you in April. We have been advised to look at Buderim, although the house prices are quite high there. My wife is not keen on high humidity and I see several threads concerning the problems of humidity in the Sunshine Coast/Brisbane area. I would be very interested to hear your impressions of Buderim and how you found the climate/humidity there.
  6. I will soon be arriving in Oz from the UK to look for a house in Queensland. I guess this may take up to 3 months and it seems more sensible to buy a car for temporary use rather than to rent for such a long period. I would appreciate suggestions for a small, normally reliable, relatively cheap car which is commonly available secondhand in Australia. A 2 door car is fine - and does not need to be fast!
  7. Hi, I guess there are different queues. The medicals for my wife and I for a 405 visa were done at Townsville on the 11th September and we are still waiting for a response - despite several enquiries/protests about the long delay. Medibank should send the results electronically to DIAC the next day - but it is worth checking! In our case Medibank at Townsville insisted that our medical results had been correctly sent to DIAC on the 12th Sept. Medibank were able to quote to me the reference numbers of our medicals, confirmed they had been sent to the correct DIAC person and even checked online that the medicals had correctly transmitted and were still accessible. DIAC nevertheless insisted that they had not received the medical results for my wife and we eventually had to post a hardcopy of the results to them! Don't ever assume that things are going smoothly!!
  8. There are certainly long delays. Our medical for a 405 visa was taken in Townsville on the 11th September. Our case officer says he has finished his work and is simply waiting for the medicals to be approved before proceeding with the visa. He even comments that the medicals look OK to him but that he must wait for clearance from the "appropriate medical authorities" - presumably "Global Health".
  9. Hi everyone. My wife,Nina, and I are hoping to move to the sunshine coast in ( early?) 2013. We have completed the 405 application process, taking our medicals on 11th September at Townsville, Qld, whilst on holiday in Oz. Our medicals are now "stuck" in Global Health. I know that they have a backlog - it sure is a long one, over 3 months now! If all goes well I'll be back soon asking questions about the sunshine coast hinterland. Happy (sunny) Christmas to you all Bill Greenaway
