Hi, we were recently thinking the same thing! I sent an email to oz customs, i also asked I could bring previously bought alcohol without proof of purchase in my checked luggage. This was the reply I got, it may help someone:biggrin: Maria x Thankyou for your enquiry. Travellers are allowed to bring into Australia the following goods duty/tax free. Goods bought overseas or bought duty/tax free before leaving Australia are included when determining your duty free allowance. $AU900 worth of goods not including tobacco or alcohol ($AU450 for travellers under 18 years of age). For example, cameras, electronic equipment, leather goods, perfume concentrate, jewellery, watches, sporting goods, etc. 2250 ml alcoholic liquor (including wine, beer or spirits) for travellers aged 18 years and over. Tobacco - 50 cigarettes, or 50 grams of cigars or tobacco products other than cigarettes, for travellers aged 18 years and over. Most personal items such as new clothing, footwear, articles for personal hygiene/grooming. Personal goods owned and used by you for at least 12 months can also be brought into Australia without payment of duty and tax (proof of date of purchase may be required). Members of the same family who are travelling together may combine their individual duty/tax free allowances. Gifts (given to you or intended for others) are counted as part of the $A900 duty free allowance. Please note if any of the allowances are exceeded taxes will be payable on all goods within that category i.e. If you have 400 cigarettes taxes will be calculated on all 400 cigarettes not the difference between the allowable 50 and the 400 in your possession.

HI, Thought it was about time to say helllo, Myself Maria (34), OH (30) and our 2 daughters (2 + 4 when we move, I think) are heading to perth sometime this year:biggrin:! I'm pretty sure we will start off around the Joondalup area as inlaw's are there. Seems like we have been talking about this for so long now, its strange that the move is slowly starting to really happen! Im letting myself get carried away with all the nice bits and keep forgetting that we have lots of jobs to do too. knowing us everything will be last minute! Im not sure when visa will be issued though, Is this normal?? I applied for partner visa beginning of November 2012 with police checks, no other info needed, had medical 19th of feb, revecieved email on 20th saying visa will be 8-9 months after lodgement!! How much notice do you get of visa being issued? This site has been a great source of info so far, Im sure will be using it a lot more in the coming months!! Mariaxx
