Thanks all for your responses. I am being super careful and have setup few contact already. I will have casual meetings with them on pretext of dinner or coffee and do my talking. I don't intend to work on a Tourist visa.. however I wanna see possibilities of converting that into a work visa. Since I have couple more months on the travel.. I am preparing well for that. @RockDr: Business visa won't work b'cos I do not really have anyone as business connections yet to be able to send me invitation for visiting them.. meetings conferences etc.. so I was left with making a choice of obtaining a Tourist visa as my cousin helped with the invitation.

Hmm (thinking) Well, I sure hope to see something working out while I am there, if not I will probably opt for "Skilled migration visa" Now repeating my yet another question I have above -- Can one travel to New Zealand for a "short visit" on an Australian tourist visa and then return to Australia within the validity of the visa? Or will have to procure a separate Visit visa to NZ?

Well, finding myself a job is not the only thing I'd be looking for, I might want to explore options finding a business partner for my company in Oz too (if possible?) Just want to make the best of my expensive holiday airfare worth every penny! It would be helpful to know / understand answers to my questions above so I know what to expect. Yes, I do! I'm a business consultant and leadership coach with 16 years of work experience. I currently head the business development team for Training in my company in India. I'd like to move to Oz, which is why I am looking to work this option. Also Will a tourist visa to Australia allows one on a "short visit" to New Zealand on the same visa? Or one has to have a separate visa for that?

Hello Guys! I am new to this site. I am travelling alone to Australia in Feb '13 on a tourist visa. I intend to find myself a job there and be able to convert my tourist visa into work visa. My Tourist visa is valid only for 3 months and I will be staying with my cousin in Melbourne. Assuming that I'd find a sponsor with a job offer while in Australia, what is the processing time for a work visa? Does that require me to leave Oz and get back in with a work visa or can I continue being in the country while the visa is processing? What is "work visa" called in Oz? (Just as it is called H1B in USA) Any tips, suggestion that might be helpful is appreciated. Thanks all.
