  1. Hey i applied 17 October but am presently on Aus on a 417 whv as I had a job to start in Jan. was worrying as the nine month timescale I was quoted would take me to mid July which would mean I would breach the 6 months with my employer on my whv. Also, we need to return to the uk in June for a wedding so wanted to try to the offshore trip for the visa grant in with that but was worried it would be too early and to do another overseas trip so won after would not be afforded able. so I emailed my co on Tuesday to say we were planning to be off shore mid June as was it possible for the grant to be tied in. Got the usual we cannot give any guarantees but contact me nearer the time and we will see. didnt go ahead and book my flight home as I was all uncertain about what to do. But woke up this morning to an email saying we are ready to grant please confirm when you will be going offshore. So. Excited its all coming together. so if I could go offshore now my grant would be in under seven months but I will wait until our planned trip in June to get it through. just wanted to share that it does sometimes all come together. Just need to get our house sold now to finish off a great week.
  2. Hi all lovely to hear there are so many of you in the Newcastle area. We are moving out there 3rd Jan. I have a job to start in Newcastle on 14 Jan but would be good to meet up with some of you once we arrive. E
  3. Hi i submitted mid Oct and have been quoted the 8-9 month wait. i actually have a job to go to (started looking from here in the uk whilst preparing visa docs and managed to find something within a week ) so I'm looking at going out on a WHV while we wait for my visa. not sure of any others who have done it that way as most seem to go out on a tourist visa so would be good to hear anyone else's experience of it.
  4. Good to hear I'm not the only one finding the processing times crazy. My husband is an Australian and we have applied for a spouse visa for me and been quoted the 8-9 month wait time for the application lodged in London. I have a professional job but it is very niche so not on the skilled occupation list but I have found a job to go to. What is frustrating is that his occupation is on the skills list so we could probably get a visa for me on the back of his skilled occupation faster if he wasn't an Australian citizen. just doesn't seem right does it. Im still hoping for a miracle that my visa will come through but if not looks like I can go for a WHV to enter the country in January and then hope the spouse visa comes through before the 6 month restriction on the WHV kicks in. My case officer has indicated that I am being considered for the 100 permanent visa which is some good news at least - I know if I was being considered for a 309 I would have to be offshore when that was granted but does anyone know what the position is if I go straight to the 100? E
  5. Woo hoo - looks like I will be able to start my job then. And I emailed my co today to tell them my plan and they have said they are looking at going straight to the 100 visa for me as well, although they did say it could be the end of June to August for a grant! Thanks for the help everyone E
  6. Thanks - haven't been able to find out much and see if the WHV may be an option in the short term. Does anyone know if it has been done? I suppose I could ask my co but not sure I want to be bothering them unnecessarily!
  7. Hi skippy chick. We were ok with the financial side of the evidence as I just sent a selection of joint account statement etc but had a bit of a stress over the social stuff while preparing the application. So hard to think of things to evidence that socially your considered a couple. We went for statements from a couple of friends and luckily I had kept cards etc addressed to both of us from our niece so I sent that as we don't tend to keep ordinary Christmas cards or things. Hope this is the last request for info you get - we haven't been asked for anything additional so hope he has everything he needs. Think I may press on and get police checks and medical done so that everything is done and let him know that and see if he can advise if the WHV would work as an interim measure so that I could start my job in jan.
  8. Hi Know you have to be offshore when they grant the temp 309 if you have applied offshore but not sure how it works if they go straight to a grant of a permanent. Does anyone know? Also, I know there are certain circumstances where they will go straight to the 100 but does anyone know what they are? I know there are a few people onshore waiting for partner visa grants on visitor visas but has anyone had any experience of applying say for a WHV to allow them to work while waiting? I have a job to go to but didn't think there would be such a long wait for a visa as when my sister in law went with her de facto partner a few years ago they only had to wait a matter of weeks. Thanks
  9. I was allocated KP on a new partner app lodged ten days or so ago. Hoping likeyou do that this either means he is new so doesn't have too much of an existing caseload to work throughor that he can allocate more in a day as a result of taking existing cases on. Suppose we have to keep our fingers crossed and wait!
  10. does anyone know if the same applies if you are applying offshore? I have lodged partner application in London this month and have been told8-9 month wait but have a job to start in Jan and don't want to lose that so wondered if I could apply for a WHV to cover me for six months or so until hopefully my visa is granted. Encouraged by your timeline too - fingers crossed theymight move mine through quickly although co didn't seem receptive to doing so!
  11. Thanks - A WHV was my plan b -I am 30 in a few months so should be eligible. Only issue is I could only work with my proposed employer for six months but that takes us to June and hopefully my partner visa should be issued by then. Does anyone else have any thoughts on that plan? We actually have to come back to the uk in June for a friends wedding so that might fit with the grant of the partner visa. If not can always do a trip to nz when we get a date for the visa grant. All v stressful. Made worse but the fact that husband is a carpenter so could get a work visa and take me with him, probably quicker too if he wasn't an Australian citizen. All seems a bit back to front but sure it will be worth it.
  12. Hi all New to this but hoping someone can help and perhaps give us some pointers. My husband is an Australian citizen and we have been together 7 years, living together 6 and married earlier this year. He has been offered a really good contract for work out there so we are looking at going to aus with me applying for a partner visa. My job is quite specialist so we weren't hopeful of finding a job for me in the area where he has been offered work. As it turns out, I got an offer through within six days of first speaking to an employment agent over there. The issue we have is that they want me to start mid January and we are now told that the visa processing time could be 8-9 months. We have had confirmation that the co has received all of the evidence etc they need (we sent certified copies of bank statements for joint account, joint life policy docs etc ) but won't be drawn on any way to expedite the application process. Dont want to lose the opportunity of my job but don't think I will be able to get them to keep the vacancy open for me for as long as the visa will take. Does anyone have any suggestions?
