  1. Not true. Audiology services are covered under Medicare since November 2012. Your hearing test was however probably not requested by an ENT or was done by an audiologist (or other) without a Medicare number.
  2. Unfortunately the migration agent used by our Australian subsidiary is rather bad, as they have now twice given incorrect advise for a current case. Thankfully I've not seen anyone identify themselves with that company, and think those on this Forum have been given great reviews.
  3. You're right, it was a little harsh, but the presumption that others are liable when things don't go to plan is one I really dislike.
  4. Of course you're liable, who else should pay for your lack of savings?
  5. It would worry me if that's all I had in the bank and no job lined up for either of you.....but that's just me, I prefer to have a safety buffer in the bank.
  6. Mid life crisis? That's just the term used to get away with behaviour which we think is questionable.
  7. But you barely saw anything in Oz, so that's a fairly ridiculous statement to make.
  8. Oh dear. My glass is always full, with some contents in a liquid state, and some in a gaseous state. Easy.
  9. Not really, sounded like a fast turn around as the OP had only been in Oz for 6 months. In this case, the cars must have been brought over from the UK.
  10. How many owners has it had in the last 8 years?
  11. I've travelled a lot through all parts of Australia, but would love to take the Indian Pacific from Sydney to Adelaide then drive back along the coast, and include the Great Ocean Road.
  12. My philosophy is rather different. I expect my child to behave appropriately in all situations. Therefore rather than leaving her at home to avoid her being in these situations, we go to the supermarket together and she helps me. She likes it as she enjoys helping out and sharing tasks together. It's a sense of accomplishment for her and a great help for me.
  13. I'm sorry but what did you expect? This thread shows your interest in skipping out on debt, your other thread asks if $70k / year is enough to live on as a single in Perth. I'd respect your motives a lot more if your question was 'how do I ensure I meet my debt commitments in the UK with my job offer in Australia' rather than asking how you can abandon your obligations.
  14. It depends on how much of that $70k you're putting towards the £10k debt you're leaving behind in the UK.
