  3. Date applied 28/10/15 City/Council area Randwick Online / Paper Online Date received the acknowledgement email 29/10/15 Date of the Citizenship Test 11/11/15 Date of ceremony wait and see Type of ceremony (Urgent/Normal) Amazed how quickly they got back in touch to arrange the test. My PR was granted 27/10/14 so I was quick off the mark!
  4. Hey guys. Just got my direct grant today via the team in Adelaide. I applied onshore on 29 August and front-loaded everything. Processing times are v quick for this visa at the mo! Thanks for everyone's help and advice and good luck to those still waiting!
  5. Hi there One of my friends was asking me about whether to file for her 820/801 via paper or electronically. Does anyone have any experience of this? She has been married to an Australian for just over a year and they have been living together for more than two years (he was in the army prior to that). Does anyone have any views as to whether a paper or electronic application will result in a quicker grant - or is it just the same? Is there a way to get 801 granted without waiting the two years? E.g. where there is plenty of evidence that the relationship has been ongoing for a significant period prior to the application? Thanks
  6. Hi guys I just lodged my visa this morning after getting my invite overnight (I'm already based in Melbourne). I've uploaded all of my documents as I have already done my medical, police checks etc and wanted to make my application "decision ready" so hopefully someone can just approve it when it finally gets picked up by an immigration officer. None of my points are from previous employment so it made it easier on the documents front. Good luck everyone!!
  7. @gaz84 - I can confirm this appears to be correct as I lodged today and have the same message about medicals
  8. @shellyk666 - thanks for the info about timing of invites. I finally got mine today and submitted my application (they had computer upgrades that delayed the invite round from 25/8 to 29/8!). I was granted my bridging visa immediately (which is great as my current visa expires tomorrow!). i'm glad I held my nerve as I can now stay onshore while they process my application. thanks again for your help
  9. Hi i just saw this morning that the next SkillSelect invitation round will now be 29 August and not today (due to scheduled system maintenance that took place over the weekend). It looks like this info was updated on Saturday.
  10. Also the more points you have then the better your chances - good luck
  11. Well done. I would highly recommend looking into PR as soon as you can. Having been on a 457 visa myself there are times when the temporary nature of it made me feel pretty insecure. I hope you have a great employer and the move goes really well for you and your family. There are so many wonderful things about Australia - well done for persevering. Enjoy Melbourne - nurture a love of coffee and AFL and you will be at home here
  12. @shellyk66 - thank you so much for the info. That means it is realistic for me to wait until 25 August to decide to buy a flight out of Australia or not! I know it will make it expensive if I have to leave but less than paying for a flight I don't use. Fingers crossed! Well done again on your visa!
  13. Thanks @hansu88 and @kellyv - so if the round closes on 25 August it is likely that they would notify successful invitations within a few days of 25/8? Presumably unsuccessful applicants get no notification and go into the next round. Based on the data on the immi website I am HOPING to get an invitation in the 25/8 round (I know it isn't guaranteed). My current visa expires 30/8 so I'm trying to work out when/whether to book flights. All my stuff is ready to submit a decision ready application once I receive an invite but it is scary how close it's going to be. I'm just trying to work out when I would find out so that if I am unsuccessful I will need to book flights back to the UK and head home while I await the invitation and processing. If I get my application in before my current visa expires then I automatically go onto a bridging visa and can stay in Aus while my 189 gets processed. In my case every day counts and I'm just trying to get as much info together as I possibly can. Thanks again for your help
  14. Hey guys - how long after the end of the expression of interest deadline did you receive your invitation to apply? I don't think i'll make the cut for the EOIs being submitted by 11/8 (it's now second and fourth Mondays) but I'm hoping to make the cut for the round 25/8. I'm just trying to estimate how long it will be before I would get an invite if i am successful in that round (i know it's not guaranteed!). thanks - and well done!
