  1. Hello, Putting this post out there to get a few feelers on joinery work in Sydney. I am a qualifed joiner with a 4 year apprenticeship and 10 years’ experience. I work as a joiner on houses/building sites - fitting new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, decking etc. If anyone reads this who is a joiner it would be good to hear about what joinery work is like in Sydney. From what I see on seek.com.au it's mainly cabinet maker jobs which isn't the type of worked I'd be looking to do. If you have any information on joinery work, pay etc that would be great. Thanks,
  2. Hi Trevbenjones, My boyfriend and I are considering moving out to live in Sydney. We lived there from 2006/7 on a working holiday visa and have always dreamt off going back. My boyfriend has a 4 year apprenticeship and 10 years’ experience - mainly working as a joiner on building sites - fitting new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring etc. The majority of work he is seeing on Seek is cabinet makers which isn't the type of work he'd like. Have you had any luck finding work? I would say Seek and Sunday Hearld would be a good place to start. Have you worked out how the pay compares to UK? He is worried that he won't make the same out in Sydney and with the higher cost of living worried we won't be better off living there. If we applied for visa then my boyfriend would need to do a skills test and English exam. Although, ideally we would like to find job then get sponsored. If you are any further on doing any research on work in Sydney it would be great to hear how you're getting on. Thanks, CWSG
