  3. Hay Jo I'm 24 and moved to Sydney 8 months ago with my partner. I love it here but have been surprised about how difficult it has been to make friends. I love doing all the normal things: shopping, cinema, beach, drinks, dinners, etc Send me a message if you would want to meet up sometime. Thanks :-)
  4. Thankyou for your help guys ill let you know how i go x
  5. As you are going through with your PR hopefully you can answer my question....... We too have been told that the last part of getting PR is leaving the country then trying to come back in to validate visa. We have also been told that there is a risk that once you leave if they dont except your PR you can not come back into the country even to collect your bellongings? Is this true or is it just something that has gone round the block and come out different?? Thank you. P.S well done for sorting your PR :-)
  6. thanks guys u r all so lovely to try and help. I would have agreed about the temporary visa is my visa wasnt for four years. most ppl who have nannies there children are younger and after four years they start school and they want there nannies to cut down there hours.....oh i dunno. Kazze thank you i phoned acecqa and they said first of all i have to ring ......gave me anumber.....they said no you need to ring.......so it went on. Im just very confused and getting nowhere Yes I can work on my visa and have it already in paper and on computar incase anyone asks. Nanny agencies wont employ me untill I have had my qualifications checked ect. Ill keep at it though -im not going to give up without a fight! Another quick question - have any of you got a police check or a working with children check? I phoned to get a working with children check and they said they only give them when you are employed by someone and they request it and i said what about a normal police check and they said you have only been in the counrty for five weeks so they wont give you one you will have to get one from the UK??? I have old CBR checks from the uk..... has anyone had this???
  7. Thank you so much. Kaya is going to the one is Sydney too and we are close so will def be popping in to see her. I'm glad the girls there were so good for you - fingers crossed :-)
  8. wheres erina..... i wanna move there  i have met noone where i have moved to (western sydney) still looking for work and dont have a child so i cant hang out at mums groups - tried the gym but no luck :-(
  9. After a very stressful last few months arranging to move and organising tests etc for Kaya (our dog) im very excited to say that she will be flying out soon having used the wonderful petairuk. We arrived five weeks ago to arrange housing etc before she arrived - many agents turned us away straight away as we had a pet but L J Hooker found us a property very quickly and we took the first one they showed us.......the house is not that wonderful (it has everything u need - 3 bed bungalow) but it has a massive garden!! The least we can do for Kaya having put her through the flight and her 30 days in quarantine (which im very worried about). Fingers crossed all will be ok and she arrives safe and sound very soon!! Im getting excited too see her!!
  10. Hi everyone I moved from the UK to the out skirts of Sydney 4 weeks ago on a 457 visa with my partner (his visa). Back in the uk i had an NVQ2 in childcvare and development and was studying for a Diploma in specialist teaching assistant - I have contacted many organisations to find out; how to get a job as a teaching asssitant Ive been to schools with cv referances and certificates and said ill start with anything - but as i havent worked in an oz school they wont help Ive tried contacting agencies to find out what my qualifications are worth and i got put on a wild goose chase through company after company with still no luck. At home while i was studying for my diploma I worked as a nanny monday to thursday and volunterred at a school on fridays. Ive tried applying for many nanny positions also and they all reply saying my resume looks great etc whats my visa status and as soon as i tell them they say they cant employ me?! Am i just having bad luck or is there a reason they say this?? any ideas on what i can do/ contact now?? Thank you
