  1. Hi Lew, With applying for your WHV I would do it online. It is very quick and won't take you too long to get a response (couple weeks max). I believe that the visa will only begin when you enter Australia, you can set the date you would like it to start when you do the application and you can have that to coincide with your landing date. Coming from England the same as myself, I bought 3k and spent it all in the first couple of months. It is EXPENSIVE here. Especially the backpacker lifestyle. I'm talking 150 quid per week in an average hostel. 5 pound a pint vibe. Everything is more expensive here in Australia (except for chicken breast and petrol lol). I wouldn't even worry about your farm work yet. I would get the first visa out the way, come over, enjoy yourself, do some travelling, see if you like it and then look at farm work options here. Much easier when you're in the country. You can also set up your bank account when you are here and banks accept your hostel as address - most is done online here anyway. Cheers
  2. Hi guys, I know that all the help here is unpaid so I appreciate any advice as I am at my wits end. My situation: Arrived on working holiday visa in 2010 > extended for second year > one year student visa > got sponsored (457) from Oct 2013 to Oct 2015, in the process of sorting my employer nominated (189) visa and my company is no longer in business. I work as a business development manager and have been looking for work but it seems impossible for someone to be willing to sponsor me given the paperwork it would take them. I just wanted to know what my options are moving forward. Being so close and now having nothing I am absolutely gutted... I have been jumping through hoops and paying tens of thousands over the last five years and now it feels like I've lost everything... If you are unsure of legislation I will happily just accept nice words to keep me positive lol. Thanks Ben
  3. Hi All, Thanks for taking the time to read this. My name is Ben I am 24, currentlying live on the Gold Coast, QLD. My second year holiday working visa is sadly coming to an end and I am looking at options to remain in Australia. I love Australia and would consider any work in any area should it give me the opportunity to remain here. I come from a recruitment background however am struggling to find a job as my 4-year experience is in the UK construction market and most potential employees are dismissing me due to no Australian contacts/experience... In an ideal world I would like the opportunity to retrain via an apprenticeship in an electrical course. However without meaning to sound desperate, I would look at any option of retraining which would mean sponsorship could be offered. I hope to hear from people with ANY suggestions / ideas as things are getting desperate. I'm sure some of you have been in this boat so please spend the time to try and help a fellow pom out. Thanks again

I have flown with both paying... Brunei 752 return Singapore 1152 return (both London to Brisbane). Differences: Seats slightly bigger on Singapore (nothing major) Entertainment the same on both Alcohol provided with Singapore Brunei airport is horrendous, Singapore is amazing - is it worth the price hike though?! I would bare in mind to check the stop over times. I was stuck at Brunei for 13 hours and it was terrible, however for 400 quid I would probably to it again.
