Hi, been doing some research and quite confused already as the goal posts seem to move often. Im a qualified electrican looking to come to Aus on a 12 month visa to start and look for sponsorship. Im looking to get my skills assesed in the UK ideally to make getting my licence easier when i arrive.
Please correct me if im wrong but the route i think should take is the VETASSES assesment in the UK to get my restricted licence, alllowing me to enter Aus and be supervised for 12 mnths while i do GAP training to get my Level 3 cert , to then apply for my Full licence.
Im not to clear on all the bits between and the range of test centres/dates in the UK, nor all the hoops to jump though in Aus.
Can anyone help or give me a clearer route to take as want to do as much before i land in Aus as possible.
There doesnt seem to be one set route to take......
thanks kyle

Hi I'm an electrican from uk looking to come to oz on a 12 month work holiday visa... Ideally looking for a 475 and sponsorship but the time frame is too small as want to leave beginning of January. Wondering if I come and find an employer, could I change my visa to a 475 and do my various courses to get my licence?
Im currently from a marine/ aggregate/ petrochemical background, is there this sort of work available in the Queensland/ Victoria region?

Hi quick question im a fully qualified spark from the UK coming over in may have a WHV and hear seems to be easier option to get supervised licence?? wondering what proof the tra will want to prov time served, appreticeship etc?? do i need to bring my actual certs or will copies surfice? i have references from current employer on headed paper signed to show time served and range of skills? also my apprenticeship is shown through my C&G certs surely as have achieved levels 1,2,3 and NVQ 3 ???
some pointers would be much appreciated , also application process pointers would be great.
Seems a harsh world for us sparks out in oz, is it really that hard?? I have done a range of work from domestic / industrial and now love automation and control and petrochemeical oil/gas site work... Im compEx qualified too is there much petrochem work out there??
thanks kyle
