  1. I Have had a visa for 2 Years and despite chasing and emailing on a regular basis, I have been unable to find work, the market the way it is globally,s I don't want to relocate unless I have the work, sad times indeed.
  2. Unfortunately the case, I have a full visa and I am not willing to Relocate until there is a Job to go to. But a lot of people don’t seem to understand that there are a lot of Australian Guys way ahead of them in the queue for work in Australia.
  3. Hey Captain R, thanks for the update, I am going to see what the score is with my company, they are going to make me pay income tax in Brazil which there is no way around, so I would be as well living in Aus with the Dual tax agreement at least I would maybe be in a better position if the Market does pick up.
  4. Wow! this thread has been slowly growing more and more. I have just managed to get my Masters out of the way, do you guys think it is still worth going for my COR? Or is it still likely that if I was to move now I would be driving a taxi? Just in case the question comes up again I have a UK COC.
  5. I Am on an Ultra Deep Water Pipe Laying Support Vessels, We do Flexible Pipe J-Lay, ROV and some light subsea Installation, Prior to this I worked on Seismic Survey. Brgds Peter
  6. Hi CaptainR Yes the industry is very depressed to say the Least, I am even looking shore side with the Impending changes they are about to bring in within my company, Although its probably worth hanging on here for a bit longer, I dare say that I don't have it anywhere as bad as some people I know. At least I have a job and being paid in USD with the Brexit Crisis has given me a small salary bump . All the Best and I will keep you Posted if an Australian Employed believes I am Worthy
  7. Hi Captain R Thanks for the Update, I had assumed as much, I do have a job at present but there are dangerous rumors about having to pay Brazilian Tax, which is starting to make it not worth working offshore unfortunately. In any case I am going to continue getting my sea time in and at the very least will be able to get through my Masters end of/ start of next year. I did manage to activate my visa in October when it came through, they gave me 10 days to activate it and I was on a ship with a few days left on board, and the weekend after I was due off on the Wednesday, I had my mothers wedding, So we flew for 20 hours there and back (40 Hours), just for a day out in Freo, racked up about 50 odd hours of flying to get it, I hope it won't be for nothing and the Market improves and I am able to get back, my Mrs does gives me no end of grief about the cold and its the height of summer here. All the Best Peter
  8. Good Day All I was on this forum a couple of years Ago, I mentioned that I was trying to get through my Chiefs, which I am now in possession of, then apply for a Visa. My Partner and I have successfully got a sub class 189 Visa. I have been applying for Job after Job in Australia, but to no avail. I am not expecting any company to pay for relocation costs but I find it quite a big leap in the Dark to pack up everything with out a job to go to, especially given the current market Climate. I have a fair bit of experience as an OOW and a DPO, and after a Probationary trip iam ready to go 1st or Chief SDPO, I would even take just a standard 2/O Job to get back to Australia. I am also about 3 months Sea time away from being able to sit my Masters. I have been emailing a lot of people and companies with CV's, and I really don't want to go down the road of basically harassing people to get at the very least, a Response. Can anyone help me? I am also a Massive Tim Tam Feind and I don't like paying over the odds for them on Amazon. All the Best Peter
  9. Thanks I figured as much I am probably going to remain With my current employer Until I have sailed as Chief for a bit, Pending my Nav resit. Hopefully gonna be back there early next year I am Currently on one of my companies ships which is normally In Australia and Not Aussie Flag we might be getting back there I am hoping I should be able to remain onboard Many Thanks
  10. Good Day All I have posted in this thread before. It looks like I am going to be getting permission to return to WA as a spouse. This leads me to my next question will I have to complete the CEC process in order to work in Australian Waters? Any help would be very much appreciated
  11. Hi I wish I was resiting Nav today I am in Nigeria. The Nav I sat in October was new style exam with a couple of poorly worded questions and only 30% in the country passed . Your 2nd Mate, Is that with Calmac and are his initials EM? Well I shouldhopefully get sorted. Thanks
  12. Thanks Captain C I think you are right about the mates I am just getting a little impatient with how long between resits we have for these Damn SQA's. I should Pass my Nav In july and have the Ticket in My Hand Early August. And I can hopefully get this pushed through as quick as possible and be back enjoying WA, as much as I love the UK Nothing comes close to life in Australia. At least this process should be straight forward, my mrs who is a Hydrographic surveyor is having no end of grief with her assessment, the only reason her application was rejected was because her Degree course is 6 months shorter than the same degree offered in Australia. As for the Orals still dont see why there should be a full examination, but anything thats worth having, never comes easy. Many Thanks
  13. Wow this thread has been incredibly helpful Hi Guys I was in WA last year on a WHV just travelling when on leave. Originally from the UK. I am also looking for a bit of advice for trying to get back. I am a 2nd Officer DPO on Survey vessels and I do have my Full DP and I have got over 1800 hours in my IMCA logbook. My current Headache with this process is that I have completed my mates and masters course and I am waiting to resit my Nav SQA, I did pass everything else Orals and Stability result carried forward. Although I do want to get back as soon as possible is it worth waiting until I have my Mates COC or starting the process with my OOW? Do they really go to town on bulk carriers for the Orals in Freo? I can understand orals for the legislative stuff, but if its bulk carriers aside from the ISMBC code, few M-Notices and the dangers of a few of the Cargoes, I don't think I could take a 3 hour beating on the subject. Any help or Pointers would be much appreciated.
  14. Good Day All I am due to head out to Perth on a Working Holiday Visa for a Year with a view to a permanent move. I was told I could continue to work offshore, for 6 months, as are the conditions of the visa. However, my girlfriend has just found from another friend heading out there has been told by Immigration that the working Holiday visa, is not the visa we require, despite being told by the agency who provided arranged the visa that we would be ok, to do so. The Main Problem appears to be the fact that we are paid monthly, even though we are only actually working for 6 months. My Question is has anyone been in a similar situation? And if so Am I better Just Starting to put things in motion with a skilled migration visa? Thanks Pete
