  1. Hi thanks for your advice. Yes we have looked at many visas but if I am correct the 489 is not applicable to Perth as WA dont offer state sponsorship? We were hoping that my sister could sponsor us to bump up my points but that doesn't appear to be an option anymore either?
  2. Hi thanku, yes it's a bitter pill to swallow as we have been planning this for years and was just waiting for me to have enough post qualified experience to start the process...which we were about to do but doesn't appear possible anymore with the new changes. We are on a very tight time scale with our daughters age too as she will no longer be eligible to come on our visa once she turns 20. We had literally done all we could to ensure we have as good a chance as possible but it all now looks very bleak. I feel for you too, its very difficult when you want to be with family. I hope you achieve your dream and can be with your brother one day too. I am also going to contact some migration agents for advice but am a bit dubious as its all more expense and am also worried about being given false hope and loosing any money invested in them as you read some scare stories. Do you mind me asking who you are using or if you have any migration agent recommendations as we don't know where to start with them? If I find out anything that could be helpful for you I too will pass it on, Good luck ?
  3. Hi everyone, I am writing this just hoping that someone can offer me/us some advice/glimmer of hope that we still stand a chance of moving to WA now that all the new changes have come into force? I am 41 years old (42 in Oct), I am a qualified adult nurse ? (qualified in Sept 17), I have a husband who is the same age and is a Plumber (qualified 1 year 6mths). We have 3 children - one has just turned 19 years old (currently in full time education). We have tried to ensure that we meet all catergories but are now concerned about the new points changes from 60-65, as i only make 60 points due to my age and lack of years experience- this is even if i achieve superior in ielts and inc partner skills. I have a sister that has lived in Perth now for 3 years and we was really hoping on migrating there to join them and my sister was more than happy to sponsor us to help increase our points but that option dosent appear to be there anymore either? Is anyone able to offer us some advice or know what our options would be as we feel at a loss and that our dream is slipping away. PLEASE HELP!

  5. Hi yes I think I will need to speak to a migration agent to be sure. It is very difficult, although I have read other people say that they managed to get their children over under similar circumstances. Good luck to you and all the best for your new life. If I find out any more info on this I will repost on here for your info.
  6. Hi everyone, If anyone could offer me some advice it would be very much appreciated. We are hoping to move to Perth in the not too distant future, but due to being 5 points short for a permanent visa we would unfortunately need to apply for a 457 T/V with a view to applying for the 887 P/V after 2 yrs. We have a daughter who will be 18 when we apply who would apparently therefore need to be in full time education to be able to be included on our visa due to her age? We have looked into a full time college course that interests her but she has also been offered the same qualification but as an apprenticeship which she would get a small wage for; £350 p/m. She would still be living at home and obviously would be dependant on us still on such a low wage. Therefore my question is... although this apprenticeship wouldn't be classed as being in full time education, as most of her week would be hands on in placement, it is still a learner course so would this still make her eligible to be on our visa? Sorry to make it long winded but thought I need to properly explain my circumstances. Thank you in advance.
  7. That's reassurance thank you for that info. My daughter would most likely be working full time in Oz at the time we reach the 2 yr point and are ready to apply for PR 887, however she would be still living with us so do you think that would still class her as dependant? Or did you say that once they are on your original visa 489 that you arent expected to still proove that they are dependant in order to apply for PR? Its all so confusing..... My daughter has applied to college for a 1 yr course while we are still in the UK so that she can gain some qualifications and have no trouble getting on our 489 for now, however if we are in Oz on a temp visa 489 she wouldn't be able to study until we are on PR as it would be way too expensive.
  8. Hi Ali ok that's great thank you for your advice. I would hope that once we reach the 2yr point and apply for 887 PR they wouldn't expect my daughter to still be dependant? as she wouldnt be in full time education in Oz, plus she would want to earn money and get a job.
  9. Hi everyone. We are looking to move to perth on a 489 and we have a daughter whos now 18. I just wanted to ask if anyone knows the criteria that she must meet to be classed as dependant in order to go on our visas? Any advice is appreciated
  10. Hi candygirl, when you say theyve lowered the pass mark, do you mean IELTS?
  11. Ok thankyou youve been very helpful:smile:
  12. Hi, so do you mean he no longer needs to have the 12 months experience within the last 24 months anymore? Also by saying positive skills assesment do you mean his AQF3? which would be the aussie qualification for his trade. Where can i find the info on the removal of the recent experience requirement? I cant seem to find it anywhere. Thanks so much for your help.
  13. Hi labourvellec, yes in terms of points it seems we do need to pass the IELTS, but we are hopeing that IELTS will not be required after july? Its just the 12 months experience in the last 24 thats the problem, but hopefully they will remove that requirement as joanna82 advised us? We can only hope! Thanks.
  14. Brill, if thats so then we can start the process as the missing 12 month recent experience was the only thing stopping us from proceeding. Do you know where i can find this info? Much appreciated, Thanks.
  15. Hi Lesley, thankyou for your help, will deffo keep his details. We may need them! x
