  1. What a lovely post and what a brave lady you are. Welcome to the forum, everyone's so friendly on here. Your experience and knowledge of both countries will be a huge support to many on here. Glad to hear your move back to the UK has worked out so well, I wish you all the best for your future. Mrs K x
  2. We have the Sunbeam. It's used by all the family every single day. I use frozen berries which whizz up great as well as a ton of fresh fruit and veg from the markets. I also add granola and seeds. Definitely a great buy and we all eat much healthier for having one.
  3. We were longstanding HSBC customers in UK. We had HSBC Aus account set up over the phone from UK. Very easy and straight forward. Picked up our bank cards on arrival in Perth. Great service all round. HSBC is not a big bank here with only a few branches. This hasn't been an issue at all for us so far. However, don't use your bank to do money transfers, much better rate with the likes of Moneycorp and HiFx. Mrs K x
  4. So at last our time has finally come as we head to Heathrow for an overnight stay before flying via Mauritius for some R&R tomorrow and then on to Perth next weekend. As many of you already know our plans were pushed back by 3 weekls when my mother in law passed away very suddenly just st a few days before we were due to fly. To use the cliche 'it's been a roller coaster' just about covers it! A terriible thing to happen as we were the ones to find her. We have now laid her to rest and feel we have to try to move on. It does feel a little bitter sweet but overall we are excited to have finally reached this point after so much planning over the past few years. Se more sad farewells to my best friends yesterday after a fantastic farewell drinks party in London on Thurs eve. Nothing can really prepare you for the overwhelming emotion that you face when seeing all the people that you care about and them caring for you, altogether under one roof and wishing you well. Truly humbled and blessed to have such great friends. Looking forward to meeting all those new friends that will come into my life in Oz.......will update soon! Mrs K x
  5. Thx one and all.....going to send it to holiday rental and then redirect again on arrival.
  6. A little help from you lovely knowledgable people please.....Spoke with Royal Mail this morning to set up redirection of post. As we don't yet have a forwarding address in Oz, we need to set up a PO Box......Anyone done this, if so how does one arrange a PO Box in Oz from UK?Many thx in advanceMrs K x
  7. Congratulations! Wow what an exciting time for you. Wishing you all the very best....keep us posted!Mrs K x
  8. @scottishstacey I'll be in town over the next couple of days, if you want you can PM me the details and I'll check it out or you. That's if you were considering pursuing it! Mrs K x loving the tagging btw @Thepomqueen !!!
  9. Guildford is considered an affluent area full of 'yummy mummies' It has quite a good nightlife and club scene (so says my 20yr old son) It has great access to London within around 35 minutes. It has a good university and large NHS hospital. Housing is expensive but there are some very pretty villages, as well as some more 'iffy areas'. It's a nice place to live, I've been here 30 years having moved from Edinburgh. Is your job offer in Guildford town centre @scottishstacey ? Just realised I've pretty much said all this at the beginning of this thread!!! Old age, hormones, migration memory lapse? all of the above..... Mrs K x
  10. I'm 4 miles outside of Guildford. There are many very pretty villages surrounding Guildford, as for the town centre, well the cobbled High St is nice, shops are the same as any other town centre. Residents of Guildford are a real split with 'ladies that lunch' and 'Jo Bloggs' It has easy access to London, good Uni and excellent NHS hospital. Will I miss it....perhaps a little.Mrs K x
  11. Loved reading your update and watching your WDU revisited. You shouldnt cringe, you all came over great and Trudy must feel great now that Kirsty has joined you. I think 'Trudy Scrumptious' is a perfect name for a bakery/coffee shop. I bet all the PIO's folk think the same.....how about a poll?!!! I'd definitely enjoy a cuppa there, in fact I've been compiling a list from here in the UK of all the coffee shops and restaurants I plan to visit (sad but true, ask Fifi69!) I've just added 'Trudy Scrumptious' to the list! Mrs K x
  12. Felt so sad reading your OP but was so very pleased to read your updates. I think it's incredibly admirable to come on here and share your feelings. You should be very proud that you found the gumption to make the necessary changes, you clearly have a wonderful relationship with your wife and kids. Wishing you all the very best. Mrs K x
  13. Great news if your occupation is on the list. Have you established how many points you have/need? I'd highly recommend speaking to a MARA registered migration agent. We used Visa Bureau, who were first class. They will give you a free consultation over the phone and help you through the many visa options, advising on your best route forward. It's then up to you as to whether you engage them or go it alone. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Mrs K x
  14. Hi, my husband had his remarked as he achieved 7.5 in writing and needed an 8. He opted to also re sit the test, as well as request a remark as this can take upto 6wks to process. If the remark is upgraded, your fee is returned (for the re mark). The upgrade result came through just 2 days before the re sit result! Ironically, his re sit gained him all 9's and and an 8.5 and his re mark was upgraded to an 8!! Time was really against us for lodging, hence our reason for going this route. However, I'm unsure as to whether a remark can be applied for anything other than writing. Hope this helps. Mrs K x
  15. Hi Tom, Sounds like your in for a great trip! Do keep us all posted, always great to hear of folk's travels. Mrs K x
