My daughter has 6 mths left to complete her A levels which she will do she still lives at home and we support her however, has been debating for a while not giong to univercity. I can only advise her to stay in uk in uni but she has her own mind. They want to come to Oz if oh gets job. Its trying to give them the best advice I can with info provided.
  5. Hiya all, looking for more advice regarding my two older chilren coming to Oz with us. As a family we have been offered a sponsership with a company (if oh gets the job) and will travel on 457 visa. My older children have been offered the 2yr working visa. Want to ask if anyone has been in simular position cause if they want to stay after whv expires what do they do?. My daughter is just finishing her A levels this year, was giong to go to uni, however wants to come to Oz. Son has been working for groundsmaintenance firm for three years. I hope they will love it in Oz as we have never been there, but hey lifes too short and just want to grab the opportunity if it comes our way. My god though what a decision to make, on a daily basis my head is all over the place. Are we diong the right thing, what if it doesnt work out, we will have nothing to come back to....... Does everyone contemplating this move go through the doubts? We are just waiting for decision from company which should be within next few days. Oh has had e-mail to ask if he is still interested, last interviews tom eek.
  6. With the 2.5 guide for cost of living are you saying 2.5 x wage in pounds to cost of living in pounds ie £25,000 x 2.5 = £62,500 or $96716 hope it makes sense. We tryin gain information on what wages we need to earn to go.
  7. As the saying goes.........Life begins at 40 good luck and Happy New Year:biggrin:
  8. Thanks, will do. How long you been there and what area do you live in? I am a psychiatric nurse oh will find out in two weeks whether he has been sucessful in the job.I have no job yet to go to, how does it look jobwise for psyc nurses there.
  9. Perth is where we hoping to settle. I will need to get a job too. I am a staff nurse so hopefully combined wages will be enough to enjoy our lives in OZ or basically its a no go. By the way how much does it cost for schooling out there havnt research that yet. With thanks.
  10. Hiya all, The question on everyone's lips is how much do we need to earn to be comfortable. Wages offered to oh is $89000 dollars for a job which takes him away monday to friday one week and monday to thursday the following week. What you all think?
  11. No he works 8 till 4. I know what your saying dont think I would like that with two 12 year old boys to look after. Food for thought though thanks.
  12. Hiya all, Its crunch time. Will find out if my oh gets job offer following telephone interview in two weeks. Timescale will be six weeks, relocation package fab. I know your thinking thats great, however my husband will be away monday to friday one week and monday to thursday the next. It would be perfect if this wasnt the case. We have to make the biggest decision of our lives within these next two weeks if successful. Just wanted a little feedback on what you all think.:xmas24:

  20. Hiya all So damm hard to choose which state to settle. Hoping to go to Oz next year,I am a mental health nurse and my husband a comms engineer.Obviously want to go where the jobs are but so hard to choose what state best for my family. We have four children, oldest boy a gardner, daughter in college giong to uni next year, and twin boys of 12.Active family love to walk, fish and enjoy the sunshine.Want to live by the sea if poss.Any feedback would be great.I know lifes what you make it but still would like to know what you all enjoy to see if that state is for us.
  21. Hiya, Totally understand what an emotional rollercoaster ride you are experiencing. I have a stepdad brother and sister left here. Lost my mum and dad 2010 and husband got brother and sister left. I know how upsetting for my stepdad it will be when I tell him we hoping to emigrate he has looked after me for 38 years im 41. We have been each others rock since my mum died and my children have given him a new lease of life. Since my losses there is one thing I have reflected on and that is, life is not a dress rehearsal we only have one crack at it. As for your son he may well follow you eventually and you have to leave them live their own lives. My son is 21 this year and wants to come with us but has to go on wv. I know in my heart that he will love it and we will do everything to keep him with us. I wish you all the very best for your future, you have to do what you feel is best for your family as your mum did and yes you may have to be a little selfish.Your mum will come around.xx
  22. Thanks for advice, E-mailed go matilda awaiting information from them.
  23. Hiya, My son works as a groundsman and my daughter wants to go to Perth university she is currently got one year left in college studying for her A levels. An Immigration company informed me that my older children would need to apply for 457 as well as myself and oh.The nursing agency informed me that my older children would not be able to travel on my visa as they are no longer dependants. This is why I am looking at alternatives on how to get my older children out there with us, its driving me bonkers ha! Thanks for advice.
  24. Hiya all, We are a family of six hoping to move to Oz next year. I am a psychiatric nurse giong on 457 visa sponsership with nursing agency. However, been informed by immigration company that my 20 year old son and 18 year old daughter will have to apply for 457 themselves. This comes at a price, it seems so much easier by paying for someone else to gain employment for myself, oh and older kids. Is it worth biting the bullet and paying for a company do all the work for us has anyone had experience of using these companies? It is a lot to fork out initially however it would give me great piece of mind where my older children are concerned and oh, he wants a job before he goes or he will be stressed to the hilt ha.
  25. Hiya Marion, Won't be long now bet your really excited. Yep did e-mail you and you sent me your correspondance with many thanks.Work has been really hectic lately and it looks like my older son of 20 and daughter of eighteen will have to go on a seperate visa 457 sponsership. We are looking at an emigration company called global visa's to help us at a cost. Debating whether for me and my husband with our twin boys to go on my application with nursing agency and older with global visa. All decisions sent to try us eh. Glad all is well with you, keep in touch and wish you all the very best for your bright future in OZ Lisa x
