  1. Medicare does not provide cover for - Personal liability - Legal expenses Usually these covers are provided with a home/content insurance and I won't have one until I get an apartment.
  2. I found what I was looking for: http://www.go-walkabout.co.uk/quote_oneway.php http://www.duinsure.com/travel_insurance/one_way_travel_insurance
  3. Hi everybody, I would like to know how you got covered when you arrived in Australia, specifically for theses: - Personal liability - Medical Expenses - Legal expenses - Personal accident I have these covered with a single trip travel insurance but it stops 24 hours after I arrive. Can I get a health insurance even if am at the hotel for the first few weeks? How can I get a personal liability cover? Do you know any company that provides short-term international cover? Best regards, Germain
  4. Thanks dmjg, Does GPOs (General Purpose Outlet) are fused, or each circuit have a 10A fuse in the distribution board? I guess the fuses have a breaking time that allow to use more amps for some time but maybe not long enough for the 12.5A at 3000w BTW, do apartments usually have their own distribution board so that we have access to fuses, or do we have to ask to a concierge?
  5. Hi all, I have a 2500w crepe maker, in the UK. It is slightly more than the 2400w provided by a standard outlet in Australia. It is not always running at 2500w, just to heat up (approx 10min, then every 30-40 seconds to keep the temperature right). I wonder what could happen. Will the fuse blow for this 100w excess? I also have a larger model, rated 3000w. I guess this one will definitively be a problem! Thanks.
  6. Hi, Is there anything to do after receiving the grant notification? I mean, there is the first entry within one year, but beside that?
  7. I got many documents translated from French (education, birth & police certificate) by a NAATI translator. It's maybe a bit more expensive but it's the best way for your application to be processed rapidly and successfully.
  8. I am the original poster, here is my experience. I sent my application (premium service) with next day delivery and asked for the certificate to be send with next day delivery too. Posted on Monday last week , got an email confirmation the following day and received the certificate on Friday last week. So it was expensive (£77+£5.90) but fast (complete process took 5 days) and tracked. I wasn't sure about using next day delivery as it requires a signature and the address is a PO Box, so I called before and been told it's ok.
  9. Thanks for yours replies. It seems the processing time is good By the way, is it OK to send copies of proof of current address (I don't want to send the originals)? I also asked for my French Police Certificate. It's so simple. I went to a website, gave my date and place of birth, my current address, et voilà! I should receive it in one week. No fee, no evidence to show. It was nearly the same thing for my birth certificate. I wish everything could be just like that.
  10. Hi, I wonder what is the actual processing time for a UK Police Certificate from the ACRO? According to the application form, there are the Standard service (10 days) and Premium service (2 days). However I read several time on the forum it could take longer (but posts were a bit old). Does anyone have recent experience?
  11. Thanks arrumac, as I made a couple of errors in my application, I will add them all in a Form 1023.
  12. Hi all, I lodged my application for a visa 175 last week. In the qualifications, I added only my advanced diploma (1999-2001) and my masters degree (2003-2006). In between (2001-2003) I did two non-award degree. I didn't put them in my application since they are not relevant to my assessment (Developer Programmer). Thinking of it, the two years gap may seem strange for the CO. Should I upload a Form 1023 to add the missing qualifications? Thanks
