Applied for my girlfriend's 189 visa on 6th May...Waiting for CO...rest all documents uploaded except medicals....gud luck guys!!!

I too have heard that the job market is pretty slow and can only improve after the September election. Having said that, for you since you are an electrical engineer with good experience, you might be able to secure an offer, I am sure of that ! I am from Telco background and it is quite depressing here for new people coming in like me. Just trying to be positive and hoping for things to change. Gud luck !!

Hi rammygirl, Many thanks for your comment. I too hope it is the case. I dont' want to be considered as an applicant in her visa application as I already m on a PR. She will apply for PR as we are not living together until we get married.

Hmm...Does this mean, I will also be included in her visa application(which I dont want to as I already am a PR). I just want her to apply for her PR, add the information that I am her husband and that's it. Is this allowed?

Hi Tee, Thanks for your reply. To make myself further clear, does this mean when she applies for her PR 189 visa she doesnot need to put me as a partner in her application (By that time we will already be married). I just thought if she added me as her partner, she could get extra 5 points on her application. Looks like she will need to fill in her EOI with 60 points itself.

Hi guys, I have a query to make. I am on my 190 PR visa living in Perth. My girlfriend and I are planning to get married this year. I know after marrying her, she can apply for a partner visa (which is initially temporary one) and she will get her Permanent visa in 2 years time. I do not want to take this route as she can apply for 189 visa by herself and has 60 points so far. What I want to know from you is -Can she lodge her EOI using this route and can she claim additional 5 partner points from me (as my occupation is on SOL list and I have assessment done from EA too). That will increase her points from current 60 to post 65 if possible and thus increasing her chances of an invite. Can this be done ? What are the effects of this on my visa? Like after marriage, she applied using this route and included me in her application, my visa will be changed in lieu with her. Is it the case? I may be thinking too much. Hence, if any of you guys can please let me know, what should be the best thing for both of us, we would really appreaciate that. Thank you

Hey guys, I booked my tickets for October 11. Actually I am planning to go to Sydney at first to be with my friend as I dont know anyone in Perth. Its just for 10-12 days. I hope I can do that right? I am thinking of managing an accomodation in those 10-12 days in Sydney. Can anyone tell me can i do the medicare, TFN, opening bank account in Sydney or its better to do it in Perth after I land there ? Thanks
