  1. 109 assaults? Out of 20 odd million people? wow.
  2. As an electrcian I think he would get a job but would have to do relevant courses in oz first to be qualified over there. Not 100% sure though as I'm mechanical. There are shipyards in Perth(BAE), Adelaide(ASC) and Williamstown(BAE) as far as I'm aware so he could apply for work in there. Out of Interest what yard is he in? I currently work in Scotstoun Glasgow.
  3. If you're concerned about Perth why not look at other states? I'm sure Nurses are in demand all over. Whatever happens, in 20 years time do you want to look back and say 'I'm glad we gave oz a go' or 'I wish we just gave it a go'.
  4. I'm jumping through hoops at the moment with my application. Especially with the amount of evidence we need to prove we are a couple.I also think IELTS is pretty daft seen as my first language is English. Why should we need to sit the same test as someone who's first language isn't English? And then I just tell myself, I wish Britain was as hard to get in to as Oz, and this is the reason why Oz isn't as f***ed up as Britain.
  5. There is alot of work to do before you even get to that stage. First off you need to do a skills assessment if your job is on the SOL.
  6. I'm pretty sure you don't have anything to worry about. I think the main concern would be if you would regularly be taking a hospital bed or causing the state/country money in medical expenses.
  7. What reason did the agent give for not being able to apply for permanent residency? You say your husband is an Engineer. What Kind of Engineer? Mechanical Engineers and engineering trades are in demand in many states so don't see why he can't apply for skilled migration. Assuming you are below the age limit of course.
  8. I was thinking the same. I'm sure yesterdays episode they said they would be over £1k better off per month and their wages in Oz would be $55k and $45k which i thought were'nt that great a wage?
  9. Good on you. I'm pretty much at the same stage. Sent my skills assessment away but not booked IELTS. Told friends but not family yet.
  10. The country is massive. How on earth could it become overcrowded?!!
  11. Thanks for your replies Steph much appreciated.
  12. My assessor is TRA. Ye I have copies of my payslips for the past 4 years and these have been certified by my lawyer.
  13. I have encountered a small problem getting my copies of p60's certified. I had the past 5 years P60's however the first 3 years of these I could only get them sent electronically to me as I no longer had them, must have got lost when I moved house. Because these weren't true originals my lawyer wouldn't certify them so I only have the last 2 years P60's copies certified. Will this affect my skills assessment? I have certified copies of payslips for the past 4 years. Thanks in advance.
  14. Quick question. Is a pom just an english person or scottish/irish/welsh as well?
  15. It is costing 10 grand to get the family back home for the funeral. A family member of his posts on a football forum I am a member of and through donations from forum members and others and football memoribillia auctions the last I read over 5k had been raised for the cause. Tragic story
  16. Can also depend what part of the country you stay in and what jobs you have etc. In OZ you may be able to stay in a safer area than you could afford in the UK. I know where I'm living just now I wouldn't want my kids growing up here as there is alot of drugs, violence and gangs etc. And that's with a well paid job and nice flat etc. Good areas are few and far between.
  17. And maybe one day England could learn to play football like these teams
  18. Did you apply with your skills assessment and IELTS etc?
