  1. I heard from a friend that South is way more pleasant. I will be arriving in Perth late Apr. My plan is to stay in Perth for a couple of weeks and get a car, move to Peel or South West (cheaper rental) and simultaneously start hunting for jobs.
  2. Just for the benefit of those who might find this info useful; I contacted the WA government state and got a response that I was not restricted to work in my nominated regions. For sc475 visa, I can live in any area of WA except for Perth and its surrounding area. Listed below are the eligible postcodes in Western Australia for Skilled Regional Sponsored visa holders: 6041 to 6044 6083 to 6084 6121 to 6126 6200 to 6799
  3. I will be leaving 25 Apr and will be in Perth for a couple weeks to contact tenants from there. But I've just checked and STORMY is right; very scarce jobs in my area of skill in the South. So I am going to contact my CO first and see if I am allowed to work else where.
  4. Really appreciate the feedback VERYSTORMY. I'll primarily be looking for jobs in office admin/ secretarial/ PA. I will start applying for jobs by mid March and see where it takes me.
  5. Hi Afzal, I'm an office manager in my mid 30s. If you are coming with family, then it is possible to can share and rent out a 2-3 room house unit. It might be easier than trying to find room/ shared accommodation individually. I'm also think it might be easier because I read that a lot of tenants will require local rental references.
  6. Hi all, I'm a Malaysian female heading over to WA mid April'13 on a 475 Provisional RSS visa. According to my visa, I will have to live and work in Perth's outer regions to which I have chosen Peel, South West and Great Southern :err:. I will be going alone so I plan to land in Perth for a couple of weeks to familiarise myself, apply for jobs and plan on where to stay - a shared acommodation somewhere in the Southern Region, so that it would be easier and faster to get to job interviews. I don't enjoy clubbing or hard partying. What would be ideal are areas that are easier to find shared accommodation, convenient to a good methodist church, dance classes and a park to roller skate. Any recommendations on which areas I should check out or any suggestions on making the transition would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Sincere condolences to you and family. Take care.
  8. Is your vocation in the Skilled Occupation List? If so, there should be jobs available or vacancies closely related to your skill set.
  9. It's about AUD $135/ week, not 600 - 650 week. I previously put AUD$ 200 and they asked me to resubmit. Just another update. I resubmitted the WA SS application on the 7th May and got a favourable response and offer of WA SS on the 11th May'12.

  11. Terima kasih and thanks for the warm welcome. South Coast looks like a great area to stay. At the moment, I've selected 3 regions based on population and the availability of my vocation in office administration and support. Perth not included unfortunately :dull:. Glad to know you like Malaysia. It's a nice place for retirement for sure but I would love the chance to live and work in Australia before retirement.
  12. Yes, those postcodes should belong to the regions of WA (except for Perth and surrounding areas).
  13. Thank you so much for the info. It's exactly what I needed.
  14. My agent advised that the reply on the State Sponsorship usually takes 3 - 5 weeks. It's the processing time for the visa after that which can take anywhere from 3 months to 1.5 years
  15. Hi everyone, I recently lodged for Regional Sponsorship to Western Australia (visa 475). Included were details of settlement and employment. Well I received a response yesterday. Perhaps the cost of living info I had stated was more accurate for Perth rather than the other regions because I was requested to resubmit details for the cost of living specific to the Peel region (one of my selected settlement regions). I've had no luck finding any current information online so if there is anyone living in this region, any feedback possible on the cost of living (sharing basis as I am single) would be much appreciated. Accommodation + Utilities + Food + Transportation + Recreational + Insurance (Temporary working visa) Thank you
