  1. Just wanted to share my experiences of using seven seas. I moved from the uk to perth at the end of march and had 8 boxes of personal items (books, cds, kitchen stuff) that I wanted to ship, so after good feedback on here I chose sevenseas. They have been great, can not fault any part of my experience with them. Ordered my boxes online, they got delivered when they said and came with plenty of tape, bubblewrap and marker pens. I packed them up and arranged for them to be picked up a couple of weeks later at the beginning of March. Had a text from them the night before the pick up day to give me an hour timeslot (arrived on time). The driver very helpful and had been prepared to help me get the boxes to the kerbside if I needed it but I had managed to arrange some help so this was fine. (had let sevenseas know that I live in a third floor flat and was a single female). Then it was goodbye to the boxes and fingers crossed I would see them again! Got an email a few days later to say what ship they were on and that they would be expected in Perth in May. Got an email at the end of May to say yes they had arrived and that I would need to pay the expected 176AUDS customs fee and once I had done that could arrange for delivery. Paid online and phoned up to arrange a delivery for the 7th June. I did not get a text the night before but that was related to me not updating my new oz mobile with them. I emailed sevenseas Friday morning to give them my new number and got an email straight back saying that my boxes would be delivered between 9.30am and 10.30am, the van appeared at 10.20. Simon the driver (who handles all of Perth!) was great, brought the boxes to my flat (yes again another 3rd floor flat). Nothing had been opened by customs and everything bar two dvd cases (slightly cracked on the corner, disc fine) was in perfect condition. Would definitely recommend sevenseas.
  2. Hi everyone, Just thought I would give a quick update. I got here end of March, was staying with a friend in South Perth but moved into my own rental a week ago. I had already got a job sorted before I came out (I'm a psychologist) and that is going really well, really been lucky with the team of people I'm working with and who I would now class as friends outside of work too. Everything is going well. Hope the same for everyone else.
  3. I am clearing out the clutter as I move OZ at the end of March and have the Cambridge IELTS 8 book with cd and the IELTS Official Practice Materials 2 with DVD and are free to a good home. I worked through most of the examples in the books and passed the general test first time, so they definitely help! First to PM me with their address will get them sent out ASAP. Good Luck.
  4. Hi guys, I'm planning to hand in my notice 1st Dec (have to give three months) and move to Perth mid March. Starting to look at shipping options and also applying for positions I see on SEEK. All very scary but exciting to.
  5. Hi Melanie79, yeah I like the look of the movecube, think it would best suit me. Would just like to get other feedback from people who have completed the process with them.
  6. I have just done my skilled migrant visa on my own and found it all pretty straightforward. There is always great information on here if you do have queries. It saves you a lot of money to do it on your own. Just do you research.
  7. I emailed my CO with the scanned Form 80, but uploaded on the evisa system the PCC, although emailed my CO to say I had done that.
  8. Hi Scott, I would echo the advice of Melanie. The immigration site can be a bit confusing at times but all the info is on there. I did it on my own rather then pay out for an agent, and found it all pretty straight forward. The worse bit was the IELTS english test that most people need to do. Once you have decided on a visa type, start gathering bits of information together, skills assessments normally take awhile so worth getting the english test underway while you wait. As Melanie said the system has now changed where you have to put in an expression of interest through skill select. The down under events and working in Australia events are useful to give you some basic info. Its not cheap, think my visa application was just under 2000, then you have the english test, 125, skills assessments vary etc. Just start doing your research. Good luck.
  9. Starting to decide what to bring, thinking it will consist of kitchenware stuff, clothes, bedding, books, cd's. No furniture, maybe a tv, dvd player. What is the best way to go about this, recommendations of companies and rough costs?
  10. Normally whichever authority is doing your skills assessment will outline what they want you to include. But generally they are looking for confirmation of the time of your employment, start date and number of hours from you manager and a selection of payslips from the start of your employment to present. References are also generally needed that outline the role that you hold.
  11. I'm heading to Perth, soon to be 34years, on my own, looking forward to deserting the NHS (whats left of it), I'm a psychologist. Friend moved out there November last year and she is loving it. Had hoped that it was NZ that I would be going to, but job situation wasn't viable for me so went for my second choice OZ. Not finalised a date yet but probably be March time.
  12. You should recieve an email from Diac that gives you a list of documents.
