  1. Hi Scarlet! My fiance is finishing his social work degree next year and we are planning to move to australia asp. We are just not sure about the Skills Asessment. AAWS is stating that there should be practical Placement during the degree. He is doing his Cours via open University uk and they don´t offer things like that in the courses. Is it common procedure in Britain to do that? Any anweres are much appreciated.
  2. Hey! Sitting the IELTS a couple of times seems to be quite common. They always find a little mistake to make you pay for sitting another one. I recomend trying another test like the TOEFL. 3. Got the letter.... It states that my qualification is "considered comparable to Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (AVCE) / BTEC National Diploma / Certificate / Award standard" and it "falls on the same level of the Ntional Qualifications framework as N/SVQ level 3" Hmmm??? I guess from what I read in some posts that this is still a Cert.IV in Australia. Now I don´t know if there are any courses I coud attend because they would not take my work experience from the last five years into account...?? Chemistry technician is on the sponsorship list of western australia. So I think your husband should apply to vetassess. Give it a go! All these things are so confusing and nerve racking! I will ring VETASSESS on Monday to clarify some things and take it from there...
  4. Hey Lily83, I applied as Chemistry Technician because Life Science Technician is on no state sponsor List. Both occupations are in my opinion closely related and The asri description for Cemistry Technician suits me a bit more anyway, because in my past jobs I had most to do with chemicals, fertilisor, fungicides and so on. In the moment I am taking and analysing water samples. Unfortunatelly I don`t have a bachelors degree and other than in the UK you can`t study to become a biological technical officer. Here its an apprenticeship or vocational training. The Lady from VETASSESS adviced me, to try to get my skills recognised through UK NARIC and then make an enquiry if tey assess me on the required skill level. I did so and will propably get the oucome letter today. I´m very nervous about that! If its still not the required level I will try to sign in for a course or something like that in the UK to get one step up the ladder. Did your husband get an vetassess assessment? And are you already on the way of sending of an EOI? Thank you for your reply!!
  5. Hey hey! The letter came and Im even more confused. I applied to be assessed as Chemistry technician. My Diploma states that I am biological technical officer, what is in the same ANZCO unitgroup. Vetassess told me that the skill level is only Certificate IV and not a Diploma as required and that the tasks (I do axactly what the asi page says) undertaken in my 4 years of work experience are not in a highly relevant field. How do you become a Laboratory technician in GB? Here in Germany I had to go to a private school for two years where the main subjects were Biology and Chemistry. Anyone who knows what to do now? Cheers
  6. Hey Guys! Checked the vetasses page again this morning and guess what... Its done... the dram seems to be over now... UNSUCCESSFUL:cry: I have to wait now for them to post me the results. The last chance might be to go through a reassessment than, but first I need to find out what went wrong... I´m so disappointed and sad... Don´t really now how to go on now... Good luck to everyone else!
  7. Hey hey! Congratulations to all who received a positive outcome allready! VETASSESS got all my documents now exactly 14 weeks ago. I check every day, but still nothing... I want to be asessed as chemistry technician even though my diploma says biological technical officer. I guess it is closely related and that it meets the AQF standard but you never now because its a german apprenticeship. According to their website it may take up to 16 weeks. So counting the days.... Does anyone now, if you can still aply for SS after 1. July or do you have to be picked by a state after you loged your EOI? Patience to everyone still waiting and good luck!!
  8. Hey dredg97! I thought about resitting the test a third time but may wait now for vetassess because if they won´t assess me as a chemistry technician (I am biological technical officer) I won´t be able to apply for the visa anyway. Good Luck to you with the enquiry. Let me know about the outcome. Tiene
  9. Thanks! I will ring them tomorrow because some details on the report form are wrong. Then sending out my enquiry. Lets see what happens. Heard aabout the shortage by .5 from lots of people. Propably a way of money making. Val Tibenham, did you apply for vetassess just now? Greetings Tiene
  10. Got my results finaly.... Guess what. 0.5 short in one band again.... :-( Last time L8.5, R6.5, W7, S7 This time L7.5, R9, W6.5 S7 Will sent in a recheck or however tey call that. Will not make it before July now. Vetassess is also taking its time... Soooo disapointet. How can points vary so much between two tests if they are so accurate (according to IELTS)??? Thinking about giving up the dream now, but my partner doesn´t want to stay in Germany (he is from wales). Does anyone know how the EOI will change the state sponsorship situation? Well done to everyone who made it!
  11. Hey All!! Still cant`t see my results online.... Will propably have to wait now for the postman. The bad thing is that I won´t be home to pick it up until Thursday:confused: Try to call them on monday. This waiting is killing me!! Good to read about your experiences!! Well done to everyone who scored well and don´t loose hope to everybody else!!! We all now what its for!! Our dream
  12. The results will be shown from 6pm on the 13th day after the test. So have to wait a few houres more. Im also waiting. Could not sleep last night. Its my second test as well and had dreams about failing it again by 0.5 points in one section. Good luck to everyone!!

    Ielts !!!

Hey Krispy! The same happened to me. Had 8.5 in listening, 6.5 in reading (when i learnd it was always my best sektion) 7 and 7 in the other two. I too think its all about making money!!! They put up the price to 200€ now. Had my second test last friday and waiting for the results now. Have a better feeling this time. Fingers crossed it will be seven in each band now. Tiene
  15. Hey! I am new here and I just want to say that the worst thing for me is waiting for vetassess. All your statements don`t give me much hope that this will have an end soon. Tey received my documents on February 23 so its about 9 weeks now. I guess i will not make it in time (to 30th of june).... Does anyone have an idea what exacly they are doing? How do they compare my german qualifications to Australien standards? My degree says "biological technical officer" (official NAATI translation) but I applied for chemistry technician because that is in my opinion closely related and the only job on a state sponsor list. Does anyone have experience with chemistry technician assessment? Cheers. Its good to know that there are people in similar situations!!
