  1. Thanks for your reply. If we were to move to Karratha then it would be my husband going first and I would follow on with the kids and our 2 dogs in about 18 months when my daughter has finished her GCSEs. I really wanted to move to Perth so done a lot of research on there, I'm in the process of researching Karratha now. From what I've seen so far it's a case of you either love it or you hate it......my brother has lived there for years and loves it, would never move from there and my nephew who came back last year said we are crazy if we don't go.......we shall see what happens as the owner of the tavern is looking at his cv and is passing it to their migration agent.......so fingers crossed X
  2. I was looking at NT if I was to apply via myself. It says I need at least 1 years experience to be accepted. What are the techniques you have to do? Is it via Skype? X
  3. That's a good price......mine are shih tzu's, so a little bit bigger I think? Thank you I know approx what I'm looking at now x
  4. I have heard how expensive it is but our housing would be subsidised also through the company. Im currently weighing up the pros and cons..........I dont know whether to just go and grin and bare it to just get over there and go from there???? X
  5. My brother mentioned it a while ago but then the owners had a bit of trouble financially so nothing came of it until now. Thank you for all the advise and opinions I am most definetly taking it on board x
  6. He actually does love it......my nephew (his son) was there for 18 months and he loved it, they said I would love it also? I have actually googled pics and google earthed Karratha and I'm like hmmmmmmm??? The climate is what's making me dubious really X
  7. Could I just ask, Just been thinking........ I am a qualified hairdresser but have no post qual experience, do I actually need experience to apply for a permanent visa or is it just for the awarded points.......If there is no set minimum experience requirement then I may be able to forfeit the experience section if I can get 20 points on the IELTS? X
  8. Thanks for your info, much appreciated. I'll do a bit of research on that x
  9. Right, I get you now. I'll find out if they would be up for doing that. maybe it's a possibility for her to take time out and if we get citizenship she can apply to uni then, she's only 16, 17 in April and doesn't really know what she wants to do yet, so that may be a good option? I will speak with her tomorrow. Regarding school fees, on a 457 we have to pay $4000 a year so would that be waivered if we were on a 186? X
  10. Hi, Thanks for the replies. If any of my children said they weren't going, I wouldn't go, I just couldn't leave them behind for any amount of time. Chef is on the sol but my Hubby is 45 and only 18 months experience post qualification, so fails to get the 60 points. The place looking to bring him over, my brother works for and is really close with the owner so possibly would do PR, I will most definitely ask them that. I thought you could apply for PR after 2 years now on a 457 from 2012? Vikkey x
  11. Hello PIO's Hope everyone's had a good Christmas and New Year I've not been on here for a while as I thought our chance or opportunity would never be.......BUT.......my brother lives in Karratha and where he works are recruiting Chef's so we have a possibility of a 457 visa through them. I didn't really want a temp visa as we have 4 children, so I would love some information if possible please. 1. I am thinking of staying behind with the children for my daughter to finish her GCSE's next year, is that possible or do we all have to go together? Are GCSE's recognised for her to continue education over there? 2. How long do we have to wait until we can apply for permanent residency? Is it an easy process? 3. We have 2 dogs and don't want to leave them behind, I have researched a bit and the cost for travel and quarantine is approx £3,000 each. Does that sound correct? 4. My oldest daughter is doing her A levels will she be able to apply for university over there with them? Hope someone can shed some light and help us make this decision Thank You Vikkey X
  12. Hi Fifi69. Thank you for your reply. So are the treads negative towards the expo's? Both our occupations are needed yes, my husband now more so, with it being on the SOL now. We just wanted advise really as we are currently working towards our 3 years experience to qualify for the visa, though my husband would need employer sponsorship I would think as he will be 45 with only the 3 years work experience, where as I will be 35, though my problem is whether or not it will be on the list come the time as it has already come off WA and NSW. I'm not sure whether to go it alone or through an agent yet.............just want advise from a specialist, thats why I'm looking at the expo. Thanks Vikkey x
  13. Hi Everyone. I am currently looking at going to an expo and I'm wondering if anybody knows which is the best one to attend. There is Down Under Live and Working International. Would they both be the same? Our trades are Chef and Hairdresser if that makes a difference. Thanks Vikkey x
  14. Can anyone shed any light??
  15. Hi fellow PIO's.............I apologize if this has been brought up before, if it has a link to the post would be great!! I would just like to know when you qualify as a Midwife do you then still need to have the 3 years work experience before you apply or can you go as soon as you qualify, If so, how? Any info very much appreciated  Victoria xx
  16. Hi............I'm sorry to butt in MaggieMay24 & Verystormy...........but can I just recap what you are both saying, as only Northern Territory is the only state that are sponsoring my profession (hairdressing)..........You say that if you apply to Northern Territory to sponsor you, you don't have to move there, we could go straight to Western Australia and settle there? Is that right? Thanks Victoria xx
  17. Hi.............I qualified level 3 in July 2013 (C&G) and there was no chemical straightening on that qualification? Also men's hair was a separate course which I also done alongside doing my level 3. I have also looked at the lists for all of the states last month and only Northern Territory were sponsoring hairdressers, I'm wanting to get to Perth so I'm devastated xx Good Luck xx
  18. Hi Everyone........... We are now looking at a different route into Oz as my profession (hairdressing) has been taken off the list for WA, So we are now looking at my husband being the main applicant, Trouble being he is 43 with only 1 year work experience as a Chef, so not able to apply as not enough points, even in another 2 years he still wont be eligible................NIGHTMARE!! We are in the process of looking into Employer Sponsorship as we believe this is the only route now.............I know very little on this route so could anyone enlighten me on eligibility? do employers require you to work a certain amount of years in your profession?, where to find employers that sponsor etc...............any information would be greatly received. Thank You in advance Vikkey x
  19. Hi Everyone. My name is Vikkey and I have recently qualified as a hairdresser. We are 1 year into our 4 year plan to get to Oz, but browsing on here I have come to realise Western Australia ( http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration/Pages/Occupationsindemand.aspx ) are not sponsoring hairdressers. I have been looking on the CSOL ( http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/csol.pdf ) which hairdressing is on. Are my hopes now shattered of coming to Perth or can I still apply without state sponsorship and forfeit the awarding 5 points? If so I need to get 8's on the IELTs? Can anybody shed any light on this please before I contact an agent tomorrow Please somebody make me smile.................... Thank you xx
  20. Hi Everyone.............................Well today I have cleaned a caravan with the most disgusting toilet EVER!!!!!! I have taken on a 2nd job as well as my hairdressing to help with the savings to start our process to get to OZ
  21. What do you mean wrussell? x
  22. Oh yeah...........didn't look at the date posted haha x
  23. My hubby is newly qualified as well............we both retrained to hopefully get to Oz. We get more points with my age even though he is working more hours than me and getting wage slips............It's like we're living in limbo at the minute xx
  24. I thought you had to work for so many years WITHIN the last 10 years to qualify? That's the way I read it anyway. The link is below xx http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/190.aspx
  25. It is still on the CSOL which you need state nomination for................That's my husbands occupation xx
