  1. There is one more option you might consider. You may send your documents for the teacher registration for Perth. And if a school sponsors you, you do not have to wait for AITSL assessment. I don't know when they start the reg. period and how long they accept applications but you may keep it in mind, it takes less time, but of course there is no guarantee that a school sponsors you. In that case you can get a working holiday visa (1 year), or an employer sponsored visa (up to 4 yrs). And during that time, you may enrol to a course that might be supportive for your future plans - I don't know... Best wishes, Gulnur
  2. AITSL is not compulsory to work in AU. With your VIT registration, schools may sponsor you and you can work without your skills being assessed. AITSL is for migration purposes, as far as I know:) And, there is a page in AITSL's official website: http://www.aitsl.edu.au/initial-teacher-education/initial-teacher-education.html you may find some answers to your questions. About your Option-A, it had to be completed during the bachelors degree years. About your Option-B, AITSL did not approve my equivalence due to 45 days of teaching practice criteria, but... VIT registered me as a teacher!! Total contradiction. I sent them the same documents I sent to AITSL! In the discussion period, the person who assessed my application said that: "The reason for the minimum of 45 days supervised teaching practice is to align with teacher registration requirements in Australian states and territories. Teachers entering the profession in Australia through the skilled migration program are expected to meet registration standards to be able to achieve employment as a teacher in Australia. " Isn't it contradictory?!?!??! "VIT registration is optional in AITSL assessment" but at the same time, "45 days of teaching practice is required to be able to satisfy VIT and get registered" ?!?! On the other hand, 10 days ago, a recruitment agent called me and we had a skype interview. She asked my availability to teach and asked for my references, and noted my qualifications etc. And told me that she will contact the private and independent schools on my behalf... Really strange things are happening. I do not try to understand any more. I will just re-apply for skill assessment with new evidence and my VIT registration approval... I wish you all luck! Gulnur
  3. 3 of my Lecturers from the university wrote letters about how much time I spent in those schools(two days a week) and signd them. Head of the department did the same thing, plus, 2 of the principals of those high schools wrote letters that I had done internship for two days a week. And I will make a declaration. Won't these suffice?
  4. Hello, I am a 3 year experienced secondary school mathematics teacher, and trying to get a positive skills assessment from AITSL. First of all, thank you for all the information this forum provides from all around the world:) If you have some time, I would like to ask you about my situation. Here it is: AITSL sent me a letter (in 4 months) stating that I have passed the "educational", "English language" requirements but not the "professional year". In the letter it says: your program includes the professional year but you have not completed 45 days of teaching practice. Therefore the result is negative. I called AITSL, and talked to an authorized person. She told me that my university should have provided me an official writing saying that ".... .... have completed 45 days of practice teaching in the year .... " But in my country, the requirements differ from university to university. To be able to graduate from my university (it is the best state university in my country, I became 192nd among 2 million people to get this education), I had to complete 3 different lectures including "10 weeks, 6 hours a week", "8 weeks, 4 hours a week", "8 weeks, 4 hours a week" school experience. These three courses were given in three different semesters. What my university wrote for my assessment is that I have completed these minimums. I thought that this was enough to get the positive skills assessment and did not state how much time I actually spent in those high schools. And I got a negative skills assessment. Now I want to appeal, because my mentor teachers kindly shared their schedules with me and I spent time in a school setting for 2 days a week, then. Last week I went to the high schools I completed my internship. 2 of them gave me letters stating that I completed my internship 2 days a week but the other did not accept to write such a letter. I went to my university and explained the situation (they have not forgotten me since just 5 years have passed from my graduation and I had taken 2 lectures from the head of dept with grades AA and BA) and the head of department said that she could write a letter that "she remembers" I had done my internship for 2 days a week. I also contacted my lecturer and she also remembered me and said she could write a similar letter as the head of department did. I don't know.. In this case, the university graduation requirements are lower than AITSL standards but I have completed 10+8+8 weeks and 2 days a week internship (52 days) voluntarily. I am going to write a declaration too. Should I appeal? Does it worth it? Thank you all for paying attention
  5. My boyfriend is a mechanical engineer and he worked mostly as a mechanical group chief in big construction companies. I helped him in writing his CEs and the Summary statements. It took our 14 days. We spent almost 6 hrs every day.. He started with writing the summary statement. So he made up his mind to remember when he did what.. And by starting with the summary, we understood the aim and every skill that he has to prove, in depth. Then wrote the career episodes (First he prepared a summary for an episode, then started talking as if he is telling me what he had done when he was working in X, and I typed when he was talking). Each episode was in chronological order; we did not follow the order of the summary-skills. As the guide says, we had lots of paragraphs, and then by checking the summary statement 1m times, we assigned skills to paragraphs. When doing this, I was the one reading the episodes and typing the numbers. My boyfriend was telling me the "skill numbers" while listening to me. By the way, we first wrote it in our native language and then translated it into English:) It would have taken more time otherwise.. (Only translating took 8 days) Start with the summary, understand it throughly, and start writing the episodes in a chronological order, then assign the skills.. Don't act like a perfectionist in the first draft, cause you will read it million times:))) You will have too many chances to correct a missplelling:)) Take a deep breath, be patient, and find yourselves an assistant :ssign12:
  6. I think that IELTS is nothing but a commercial test! I am non-native speaker with 8-7.5-7-8 from L-R-W-S. Did anybody realize what makes this test so ugly? Seven, seven and a half, eight, egiht and a half, nine... All these scores are stuck almost between 35-40 correct answers. Do you think that there is much difference between 36 and 37 correct answers? This difference costs "10" points to us, $XXX to them! By the way... What does this test cost in your country? Most probably you are paying more... I paid {in August 2012} 345TL = AUD 185 (today) Does anybody know why? I don't.. + All the native experts suggest not to read all the passage...
  7. Correction: She just told me that it took 9 months (lodgement to grant, independent pr).
  8. In the time-table, DIAC has classified 190 visa in the 3rd priority, without taking "where this visa application made from" into consideration. I also live in a high risk country (Turkey). My sister has been living in oz for almost 2 years. She got her pr within 4 or 6 months, I don't remember. She was married for 12+ months. My sister and her husband were thinking to move to AU, since they had their honeymoon there, and adored oz. First they applied for state sponsorship, but got a negative response due to the occupation ceilings. (Sister: computer engineer, brother in law: electrical engineer). Then they applied for the independent pr visa. By the way, her husband was working in a French company in Turkey, and he was offered a position in Brisbane within the same company. He accepted, and they happily got their ENS. Anyway, their independent visa was granted very quick.. (4-6 months) I will also apply for a 190, offshore. (I am a mathematics teacher, graduated from a highly respected uni here in Turkey, got my education in English, and worked in English teaching schools.) Maybe in February I will be able to submit my EOI, even though it might be too late for you Somudra, I will share my timeline too. For me, DIAC is clear about everything. Asks the applicant to have qualifications and prove it. Then advises how much this will take, and works hard to catch the timeline. Best wishes;)
  9. In some countries, it is abnormal(?!) when people live together before marriage. How will those people prove their genuine relationship? Will they marry, buy a house /or rent a house and furnish and afterwards will sell everything and move to Australia and rent a house again and furnish it? I wish there had been a way to prove you love someone and hope to marry him/her...
  10. Here is a link from another forum, Jonnyenglish. The 7-8-9-10th threads are interesting... http://www.expatforum.com/expats/australia-expat-forum-expats-living-australia/36894-moral-obligation.html The 7 and 9th ones may answer your question. And thinking about the 8th one, it's definitely not fair. I hope everybody can be employed with their 190 visas in the state that sponsors. Best wishes.
  11. As far as I know, if one proves s/he cannot find job in the state (that sponsors), then can move to another state with 190 visa.
  12. What type of visa do you have? If 190, you have to work and live in WA for two years; if 189, you can work and live anywhere in Australia. Best wishes:)
  13. For me, you should check the "checklist" for your skill assessment from the web-page of "Institute of Chartered Accountants". There must be a detailed step-by-step explanation there. You may also e-mail them. My assessment authority(AITSL) did not want me to submit any reference letters. Marry Christmas
  14. Hello Daveymb, I applied for assessment to AITSL. And I am pretty sure that they are using their 10 weeks time. There are a lot of people sending files, asking questions.. So they most probably will complete your application in 10 weeks. My status (that I can track via the link they sent) has changed to: "assessment completed" with a note under it: "... allow us 3 weeks to post the result to your address if you live outside Australia..." Well.. Everything is OK.. But if they have completed the assessment and posting the result, why don't they acknowledge the applicant about the result?! Why should it be a mystery?
  15. Here comes the news: AITSL E-mailed me, saying that they did not requested any extra ocuments, the mail I got was an automated message. Because I have sent extra docs, it would take couple of weeks to sort them. By the way, the online tracking link they have sent me announces "assessment completed. But not the result of the assessment. Mysterious! And asked to allow them 3 weeks for offshore posts. I am waiting now. As soon as I get it, I'll apply for VIC state sponsorship. I am also a secondary school maths teacher:)
