  1. Hey guys, I'm moving back a year later. Back then I had shipped 4 boxes with seven seas for 130 pound plus 110 examination fee. Having called their Australian office I got a quote over 10 boxes for 1100 bucks excluding examination fees! So far I haven't found anything cheaper, who can help?? This is insane! Thank you! Sarah
  2. Yes, I read that, too, however, they're not an agency, I double checked with them. Basically, I have been given the contacts of the clients by them, and then go out and work for these clients who pay me by me providing them with an invoice. Re not working for more than six months generally, I'm afraid I can't remember where I got it from
  3. Hey guys Now we all know you can't work longer than 6 months for one employer when on the above visa. I now read that you actually can't work longer than 6 months full stop. Is that true? Further, how does it work when I'm not employed, but freelance under an ABN? I work with some sort of agency (they're more like a registered brand than an employment agency), and I don't invoice them, but rather the client directly. I've been doing this already for nearly six months, am I ok to keep going? Thanks Sarah
  4. guys, I'm in oz on a secondary 457, but it'll expire in two weeks time due to my partner having lost his job. I want to stay though, so I'm planning on flying out to Bali briefly and getting a working travel visa. I know it might take up to six days, but I'm trying to figure out what are the chances of that actually being the case... I've also read it can take a few hours, or maybe two days...so shall I risk it by booking the return flight on the next day already? saves me the hotel costs...or is it unlikely to be processed that quickly, so should I book it two days later? very difficult lol further info: I'm German and 26 years old, so at least from a low risk country with a good age thanks everyone!

    Lost 457

Thanks for all the advice, guys! lebourvellec, you said if he can reach the 60 points, he will get sponsorship. That sounds like a definite thing, is that the case that he'll certainly get it? I understood, that a sponsorship application could also be refused... Also, in respect to sponsorship and the actual visa application later on, I've read that the more points you have the more likely it is to be successful. That's why I thought an IELTS might be good, even though not required, just to get additional points and therefore an advantage over the other applicants. Ah okay, that's good then, I thought you'd only be eligible for a bridging visa as of the time you've lodged your application. So if we can get the bridging visa once he's been invited, do you think it's realistic to plan on not leaving the country at all? Like, if he loses his job now, then there's around 3 weeks until DIAC will know about it, and a further 4 until the visa is cancelled. So that leaves us with 7 weeks until we will have to have the bridging visa, therefore have been invited...however, I read somewhere that process would take 2 or 3 months So what happens if our 457 is cancelled before my partner will be invited and we can get a bridging visa? Are we unlawful for that time being? Or is that a case for bridging visa C? What I was also wondering, would the chances of getting a 489 be better than a 190? I'm just thinking that maybe less people want the 489, and that there's a high demand for 190... Again regarding SS, what's going on with these numbers? I've read people saying "oh I've got 50, so my chances are good" and others were like "mine is 1349, so it's a long wait for me" ...? Again, thanks so much for your help! Sarah

    Lost 457

Hi guys major issue - I just came out to Perth last week to be with my partner, who's been here for a year now, on a 457. A day after my arrival they started to lay people off Now, I've looked into the options, I believe him trying to get a 190 might be the best option. Will speak to an agent, but I thought, maybe anybody got some advice? Here's the situation: I'm 26, just finished my studies in Events Management (CSOL), no post-qualification experience. He's 34, a Geologist (CSOL), years of experience. So neither of us could get a 189... Not too keen on living in regional Oz, cause it'd be hard to find a job within the events industry, if there's no people lol I wouldn't get a skills assessment cause of the lack of experience. Oh and btw, he's English, I'm German. So if he'd get his skills assessed, get an English test done (just so we can get more points), and get nominated by one of the four states that have his occupation on their SMP, we could lodge an EOI in his name, me being the secondary. We'd have around 70 points then. The occupation ceiling for Geologists is 840... What are the chances... Also, anyone know how to get nominated? On some websites I read you'd tick a box in your EOI if you wanted nomination, on some pages I read you'll have to apply for it separately, before the EOI...? Any advice would be appreciated!! Desperately want to stay here Thanks!
  8. thanks for your advice, that was really helpful! I'll look into it! i'm an events organiser, so it's rather difficult lol found it on only to smp you might also know this, if my boyfriend was to get pr under the rsms, does that mean he's gotta stay in regional australia for a certain amount of time? and does that again apply to me?
  9. hi guys, I'm the secondary applicant on my partner's 457, and I was wondering, what are my options to get pr independently? that is, taking my boyfriend and any employers out of the equation. can I just apply for pr myself after having worked a certain amount of time? I'm not on the sol schedule one, but on the csol schedule 1 and 2... also, if my boyfriend goes for pr (either sponsored by his employer or independently), and I become the secondary applicant on that as well, is my visa again dependent on his, like it's on the 457? or will I then have full pr status, independent of any change in circumstances? thanks! sarah
  10. on that note, are 21 days really necessary? how long does it take for the medicare application to be processed?
  11. I know, that's what I thought, but then I figured I might tell them and ask whether it's ok, cause I'm so bloody paranoid that I'm scared if I don't tell them and for whatever reason they do find out one day, they refuse to pay my medical bills got all these nightmare scenarios in my head lol
  12. Thanks a lot, guys! I've got the EHIC and the NHS card, and plenty of letters to my address here. Do you think it could be an issue though that in addition I'm still registered in Germany...? "they must have come directly from their home country to Australia i.e. have been paying tax recently in their home country." Home country being country of residency? Well, as a student I've not paid any taxes... Speaking of country of residency, when you fill out the application form, they're asking for you address of residency, and then for the address of living. Do you recommend I put down the English one for both, or should I put the German one for the address of residency? I mean, yes, I'm residing in England, but again, I'm also registered in Germany...
  13. hae? you mean the basic one? <-- then again, you probably don't lolcause I checked out the one above basic (with several providers, but not bupa), and it works like you described it for Medicare: the insurance will pay as much as Medicare would pay, and you pay the rest. well, 35 dollars is not too bad, I suppose... so to sum up, Medicare covers half your GP bills, no dental bills, all your emergency and hospital bills, no prescriptions. right?
  14. Hi guys I've been a UK resident for over two years, but I'm a German citizen. I'm still registered in Germany (just for bank purposes, really), but obviously I'm also 'registered' here in the UK. Now, am I entitled to Medicare, or are only UK citizens eligible? If I am entitled, is it true that Medicare only covers for emergencies? Because I read on their homepage that you can go and see a GP as well, however, many people posted in various forums that Medicare health insurance is generally not sufficient (sufficient for the visa, yes, but not for your health lol - going on a 457, secondary applicant, btw). In addition, it says on Medicare's homepage that you will have to pay the difference between what the GP charges and what Medicare would pay for. Anybody any idea what kinda amount one would be looking at here? Because I'm thinking it might make more sense to just pay this difference twice a year (I'm rarely sick lol), than taking out additional private insurance...then again, you'd have to pay for the dentist as well, don't you. So maybe additional private one after all?? Thanks a lot! Sarah
