  1. Thanks Homer, to do my job it seems I need to be dual trades, ie an instrument technician which I am, plus an electrician which I am not. But to get the visa I only need to be an instrument technician. I currently do quite a bit of electrical work but it is not the same type of work as an electrician would do. I have read on here some of the threads regarding what is required for A grade electrical licence, but this doesn't really seem to fit in with what an instrument technician would do. Any help would be appreciated so much!! thanks craig
  2. Hi Thanks for all the replies. My job is Electronic Instrument Trades Worker (Special Class) 342315, for which I am sure my qualifications and skills will match. However the problem lies in that although I could get my visa, I cannot do my job in Australia without having an A grade electrical licence, even though it is not asked for on the visa requirements. I really need help on what is required not only to get my visa, but also what I require to do my job. thanks craig
  3. Hi Can anyone tell me where I could find a trades expert? I am an Instrument technician in the oil and gas industry and am struggling to find out any information on how I would go about getting my trade recogonised, and what licences etc I will require, and how I go about getting them. Are migration companies fully conversant with all trades or would I be better trying to contact someone who knows about instrumentation? thanks craig
  4. Hi all We are new here and hope to get some help. I am an Instrument technician currently working in the oil and gas industry, however my trade is transferable to mining, chemical, manufacturing etc I have found this- 342315 - Electronic Instrument Trades Worker (Special Class) which is what I do. The qualifications ask for AQF Certificate III, can anyone tell me how this will compare to my NVQ level 3, HNC and Modern Apprenticeship? Also can someone explain how TRA works? Do I fill in the form they have online with all my details and then they compare it to what they are looking for? If my qualifications are what they require is that it? Or do I have to do a trade test etc? One final question (for now!!!) We would like to move to the Perth area - The information on whether I have to be electrically licenced to work there for my job seems a bit vague, any one any ideas? If so how and when does that happen in the application process? I hope someone can help Thanks Craig
  5. Hi Adam I am an instrument Technician from the UK currently working offshore in the North Sea for a large oil and gas company. Would my skills be transefferable into the mining industry? Thanks Craig
