I asked in early Jan about it and they said I had to wait until April... but I just saw this...
I've been told the same, all my docs are fine, medical is fine, I just had to wait until April for the grant. So what you're telling me is if I book flights for Mid March, for example, and rung up and told them that then they would bring forward my grant? Seems very risky to me![/color]
FWIW, actually no, it wasn't risky at all as I had already arranged a 12month tourist visa just in case my spouse visa wasn't ready on time. This was on the advice of my CO, as he had already confirmed all was in order for my spouse visa and it was just queued. So I wasted a few quid on a tourist visa I won't use, but I was flying out either way.

When my CO told me that he had received all my documentation and my medical was clear and I just had to wait for the final grant, thats when I booked my flight.

I think I may have skipped the queue a little as I phoned before Xmas and told KP I had booked flights for feb 6th. When I rang back this week he gave me the 6to 8 month spiel until I reminded him I booked flights, and it was only after speaking to his supervisor that he said I would get finalised on feb 1st just before I go.

Hi Glastocat
Which visa did you apply for? Was it the Partner Visa? Who was your CO?
Congratulations, you must be thrilled!
Yes it was the partner visa, I got classified as 100 which is great! My CO was KP, he was really helpful, I started off with JC, but she left. So my visa will finalise at 6 months 1 week! yippee!

Yayyyyyyy!
I emailed Australia House before Xmas as I was booking flights to go out in Feb, and wondered what my chances were (I applied July 23rd). I spoke to KP and he said he didnt know but ring him back on Jan 10th. I just rang him, first off he said oh you're in the 6-8 month queue, so I reminded him he told me to contact him as I had booked flights. He looked at my file, said, Oh you're travelling with your family arent you (who are citizens) let me speak to my supervisor!. The he came back and said yes, they will grant me Class 100 on Feb 1st!!!!
I'm sooooo happy!!:biggrin:Yippeeeeee!!!!

He'll have to enter Australia on an Australian passport.
Australian citizens have to enter and leave the country on Australian passports, no matter what other passports they hold.
I've had a google and can't see anything and the docs we got don't say anything about it, I'm sure.
Ok, sorry I was wrong, he doesn't have to be there within a year, no idea why I thought my husband said that! Next step is apply for his passport, anyone know how much it costs? I did google, honestly!
Its all starting to get a bit more real now!

My son is eleven, so its not to do with police checks! I dont have any further info, but my husband definitely said something about him having to enter within a year! I suppose the next step is to apply for his passport, or can we enter Australia on his Irish passport? any advice much appreciated!

My husband just rang to say our son just got granted his citizenship by descent! Woohoo! Just me to get sorted then, and med results and another stat declaration will be going in this week. Fingers crossed!
Can anyone fill be in on the citizenship by descent stuff, husband said son needs to be in Oz within a year or something? That shouldnt be a problem!

I have my medical this morning. Wish me luck!

Can someone please tell me where the spreadsheet is off everyone's processing times? I suppose I should add myself to it.

Eek! Came home to an email assigning me JC, and asking for a few more bits of info, including evidence of my relationship between 2010 and 2011, which is odd as we have been married since 1996! Apart from that no surprises, except that they are now quoting 6 to 8 months, which is annoying as we want to get out there Jan or Feb! Oh well, maybe it won't take so long, and if it does, it does!
God, it's all starting to seem very bloody real I wanted to lose more weight before my medical, but would delaying the medical hold things up? Does anyone know? HELP! Anyone else got JC?

I posted my application for 309/100 in June (via an agent through my husband's work), also front loaded with police check. I had a letter about a week later, via the agent, confirming receipt and allocation of a CO. This also asked me to go for a medical and gave me the relevant info to organise this. It quoted waiting time of 5-6 months.
Thanks Happyvioley, hopefully we will get a letter any day now (we are in Ireland, so maybe a day or two longer!
I get the feeling this is going to be quite a ride I've just stepped on!

Thats good to know Dave, as we would like to go out either January or Feb at the latest. Now I just need to worry about the medical!

I posted my spouse application, and also my son's application by descent last Monday. Can anyone please tell me if the Embassy acknowledges receipt and when they usually do this? Also what is the current approximate waiting time? I front loaded my police check if that makes a difference.
This is all a bit scarey!

Well done! that's the spirit! keep going and you will reap the benefits! Your diet sounds like mine except that I am cutting out meat too! let's be a source of encouragement and cheer each other on!
Oh definitely! I have to say I have never had better motivation to diet in my life!

Chantelle I am low carbing, no bread, sugar pasta rice or processed food. Lots of meat fish veg eggs and a little cheese! It's working very well so far, have lost two stone in two months. Loads more to lose, but I am very determined, I don't want to go to Oz fat!

I've got my police checks done already, I had to get two as I moved to Ireland from the uk nine years ago, so needed a uk and Irish check.I am a bit worried about the medical though as I am overweight and my blood pressure can be dodgy. So am dieting
like mad and hoping for the best!

I have gathered up most of my info now and will be putting in my 309/100 application this week. I will also be putting my kids application by descent, so fingers crossed for both. We would like to be heading out in January, eeeek!!

Superchuckles, is there any reason why you can't just go out on a tourist visa, and go offshore to get your spouse visa? I know it more cash, I don't know if that's feasible for you.
