  1. We arrived here two weeks ago, our son started school this morning in Safety Bay primary. I just wondered if there was anyone else in the area?
  2. Thanks for posting! We are off to Perth in three weeks and yesterday The Fear hit me, so it's great to read this!
  3. I was referred, they did not tell me why. It took three months to get clearance, but it didnt delay my visa at all.
  4. Superchuckles, is there any reason why you can't just go out on a tourist visa, and go offshore to get your spouse visa? I know it more cash, I don't know if that's feasible for you.
  5. I feel your pain. I have been lucky and am going on a spouse visa which has a lot fewer hoops to jump through, but that has been a long and stressfull enough process for me! Lets hope it is all worth it on the other side (this time three weeks for me eeeeeeek!)
  6. FWIW, actually no, it wasn't risky at all as I had already arranged a 12month tourist visa just in case my spouse visa wasn't ready on time. This was on the advice of my CO, as he had already confirmed all was in order for my spouse visa and it was just queued. So I wasted a few quid on a tourist visa I won't use, but I was flying out either way.
  7. When my CO told me that he had received all my documentation and my medical was clear and I just had to wait for the final grant, thats when I booked my flight.
  8. I think I may have skipped the queue a little as I phoned before Xmas and told KP I had booked flights for feb 6th. When I rang back this week he gave me the 6to 8 month spiel until I reminded him I booked flights, and it was only after speaking to his supervisor that he said I would get finalised on feb 1st just before I go.
  9. Yes it was the partner visa, I got classified as 100 which is great! My CO was KP, he was really helpful, I started off with JC, but she left. So my visa will finalise at 6 months 1 week! yippee!
  10. Yayyyyyyy! I emailed Australia House before Xmas as I was booking flights to go out in Feb, and wondered what my chances were (I applied July 23rd). I spoke to KP and he said he didnt know but ring him back on Jan 10th. I just rang him, first off he said oh you're in the 6-8 month queue, so I reminded him he told me to contact him as I had booked flights. He looked at my file, said, Oh you're travelling with your family arent you (who are citizens) let me speak to my supervisor!. The he came back and said yes, they will grant me Class 100 on Feb 1st!!!! I'm sooooo happy!!:biggrin:Yippeeeeee!!!!
  11. I have booked a three month rental in 5th avenue, Shoalwater Bay Area, would really appreciate some feedback. It looks great on Google earth! I hope you can tell me it's a nice area, our son is 11, do you know anything about local primary school? We move next month, fingers crossed!
  12. Thanks for the answer! Do you have any idea what they would be entitled to? We have enough money to do us for a while, and obviously hope we won't need to claim at all, but would like to know what fall back we have if things don't work out for us. They are both citizens, but my son is only 11, so won't be claiming for anything!)
  13. We are emigrating to Perth next month. My husband was born in Oz and lived there until he was seven years old. My son has a passport by descent, and I will have a Spouse visa (cat 100). We are trying to get work straight away and we have some savings to fall back on. I also know as I am a dependant spouse I cant claim anything until two years is up, and hopefully I will be gainfully employed by then anyway. But is my husband entitled to claim anything? Obviously we hope not to have to, but it would be useful to know the facts just in case. And please dont accuse us of being scroungers, we are moving to get employment as my husband was made redundant last year and not working is driving him crazy!:arghh:
  14. I was in a similar boat, but dieted like a demon and got my bmi down to 35 at the time of my medical. This brought my bp down a bit but it was still high. I was doing meditation and hypnotherapy and lot of walks, and on the day of my medical my bp was 130/90 which the doc was happy with. I think a bmi of over 40 might get you referred, same with a high bp, but I bet you will be fine. My medical was referred for depression, which I suffered from after the death of a parent, but I got clearance after a few months. Just waiting on my spouse visa to be finalised now, flying out next month. Good luck!
  15. My husband is australian, as is our son by descent. I applied for my spousal visa in July and was told there is a six to eight month wait. Today I contacted my CO and she said its more likely to be eight months, which takes us up to March. We were hoping to go Jan or feb. I have read of people going over on tourist visas, and waiting until their spouse visa is validated and skipping over to Bali for a few days to validate their spouse visa when the come back in. Has any one done this? Is it ok? Or do I just need to wait until March? My husband could go out first I suppose, but I really wanted us all to go together. Any advice much appreciated!
