  1. No we have no other buyers in the wings. Things don't look so bad now as we had a builder who came out and we've found out that we don't need a lintel as there is already one there - it was just the window fitters didn't put plasterboard up properly!! Saving us loads of money - it's only going to cost less than £100 to be done now so feeling a lot happier about that bit.
  2. They are cash buyers who are planning to rent out - and definitely not short of money anyway.
  3. Thanks that is our plans at the moment. the trouble is we are going on a student visa and it all depends on the house sale - my course starts on 3rd December this year so on a very tight timeline
  4. The day's just got slightly better - a bit of good news lol - just won on the lottery - a whopping £2.50
  5. I'm all out of wine as well - will have to have a bacardi and coke instead
  6. Thank you Missus B - we need them today - feeling really deflated today. And out of the 2 of us I'm the less depressed lol.
  7. Sorry just need a rant. We've been applying for our visa as our house sale is going through. We thought - easy sale - no chain - just us and the buyers. We're going to move in with my parents until we move over to Oz hopefully in November. It just all seems like it's falling apart. I keep chasing up the Solicitors and today they have actually got back to me saying that they haven't heard from the buyer's Solicitors but they have heard from the estate agents and that there is a problem with the homebuyers report that the other party had done. They have already knocked £4,500 off the asking price which we have accepted. there is a problem with our bedroom lintel - the surveyor told me that if the windows were replaced it would need a lintel put in as it's sagging a bit - it's not a major problem it's just there. So the buyers want us to have the work done ourselves before they buy it or knock even more off the price! We've haven't got any money to do this and we certainly can't afford to knock any more off the house!!! Not when the surveyor said it didn't really need doing until new windows were put in. The visa wants us to show proof of money in the bank (lol what money) and we've only got until the 25th October for the house to go through and to get all the documents that the visa requires. And to top it all off today my hubby will be finding out next week whether he's being made redundant in a few weeks time :arghh: Don't feel like anything is going right for us at the moment  Sorry about the rant just needed to get it all off my chest
  8. Well today I have completed the visa application online and paid for that and also booked for me and my girls to have chest x-rays which is all that flagged up on the visa. The searches should have been started on our house sale today but as they're cash buyers they don't have to have a survey. Hopefully it'll all be done quickly. Plus I've put a few more items on ebay to sell

    Gluten free food

Hi does anyone have any info on gluten free foods that you can buy in Australia and what sort of price they are. Also does anyone know whether you can take it over with you in a suitcase. Need to know for when my mother-in-law visits us in the future. Any advice would be great thanks :err::biggrin:
  12. I'm so fed up with the british weather this year - since we decided we want to move to Oz that is the only place I want to be right now and it can't come round quick enough. I feel like I suffer with the SAD condition. Was frozen on Saturday doing car boot to get rid of all our stuff - yesterday stood in the pouring rain with gloves and scarf on watching my mother in law doing race for life and then got drenched and frozen again this morning doing the school run!!!! I so do not want to be in this country now!!!!!! Can't wait for our house to go so we can apply for visa - then hopefully before xmas we will be hot in Oz
  13. These posts are really encouraging. My biggest worry coming over is not bringing enough money. We can't afford things in the UK and we have a lot of debt which will be paid off once we sell the house. We have extra things to pay for like the kids schooling as I'm coming over on a student visa although my hubby is going to try and get a sponsor when we're over there as well which would cut out some of the costs we've got. But it's great to hear how everyone gets on. :jiggy:
  14. Haven't been on here for a while as nothing was happening and I got really fed up but now we have sold our house this week and I have booked my course in Oz so now started filling in my visa. Just need to sort everything out in the house and decide what to take with us mmmm:unsure:
