USA heavy duty license accepted in WA?

Thanks so much for the info, how long did you have to have the learner's permit, was it so many hours with a pro?
  2. We are a family of 3 moving to Perth Nov 1st from America. My husband has been a commercial driver here for 12 years driving the big gasoline tankers. Does anyone have any experience on how or if the license will transfer to WA? I know he will have to take a written test and driving test in a big rig but can he get the license straight away considering all his experience or will he have to get a learner's permit or something? Thanks for any help or advice.

Thank you for all the congrats and well wishes and excited to see the spreadsheet changing colors so rapidly, I would imagine the DIAC is ina crunch to clear everything out before the skill select work starts on 11/8. We have put plans together to leave on 12 of Sept but will be flying east out of southern california (instead of west) to say goodbye to family in the northeast, then onto Europe for a month of travel before arriving in Perth around 1 Nov. Since I saved the hubby 5K on DIY immigration I figure he owes me a nice vacation for all my hard work!!!! (ladies please feel free to use me as an example) Will be settling in Joondalup as my hubby has started application process with WA police (he is in law enforcement here in the states). I hope to find work in childcare mgmt in the area also, but have not even started getting qualifications assessed yet to find a job (TRA does not count apparently!) so that will be another ball of wax to tackle.... one step at a time. So much to do now the time will fly.... good luck to everyone else waiting ... your time will be here sooner than you know so get packin'!!

For those who are wondering, it took about 12 calendar days to receive grant once everything was uploaded. Only had 2 emails from CO the entire time -the beginning and now the grant, so he was getting my info after all!!!! When you receive the grant you will get an email from CO with 4 attachments with details about visa. On the online status mine just said "applicant approved" under each person and date email sent to you. Document list still all showed "required" on mine but I hear that is quite common as each CO has their own way of doing things. Double check all the info, especially each person's passport number (we had two passport's renewed). Print out everything, it's alot of paper but feels REALLY good just to hold in your hands!!!!! Hopefully mine is one of many grants this week..... see you all downunder!:rolleyes::laugh::yes:

My timeline is very similar to yours. everything met 11/7 and still waiting. Assigned to team 7 and have not heard back from CO since his request on 7/6 which has now al been met. Worried now that the emails are not getting thru. Please update when you get the grant, good luck!

    Anyone else!!!

I am right there with you. Started the process over 2 years ago, took 1 year to sell the house, then 4 months to wait on TRA, now at the end of our lease and will have to move again to short term apartment rental to continue to wait for the visa. It has really put a strain on the relationship with all the time spent on the computer and worried about Everything, I think I've gained 15lbs!!!!

Congrats to all the recent grants and CO assignments!!! We are still waiting.... everything uploaded and emailed to CO on 11/7 but still no response from him or Team 7 since initial request email on 7/6.. really beginning to think that our emails are not getting thru... anyone else not ever heard back from a CO? Looks like it is taking 10-14 calendar days (thanks again Wendy for great spreadsheet) to get a grant once everything is received and meds o.k. so I will wait until Monday to maybe ring Adelaide. Fingers crossed for Thur and Friday!!!

You know you are becoming obsessed with the process when you know that it is 4p.m. Friday Adelaide time right now and another week gone by with no word from CO. We have responded to all his requests but have not heard from him in 5 weeks despite sending 5 emails. Does he not feel the need to respond?? or is he on vacation? or did the emails not get thru?? Now we wait 2 days to start the ocd checking.... I hope someone had some good news today to give me hope.

Congratulations!!!! Excellent news, your long wait is now over. May I ask what team you were assigned? Also, once you submitted everything requested did you email your CO and did they respond to let you know it was all received? Just trying to figure out how they communicate back as we have not heard back from any emails sent to our CO.

Laughed at this one.. I'm in the same "worry boat" and dream nightly of that wonderful plane ride!! Also can't wait for the day when I no longer have my passport # and TRN # permanently engrained in my brain!!!
