  5. Hi Guys... Sorry never got a reply for a while so stopped checking. The good news is I'm in Oz!! Since the 27th Oct 2012. On a 457. Basically I declared the PKD straight away when I went for medical in London. Make sure you have a copy of EVERYTHING on your records that has anything to do with our condition. Scans/letters... everything. The most important bit is get a letter from your specialist at the hospital explaining where you are in your disease process and what effect if any it has on your ability to live and work. Its harsh but basically all they're interested in is whether you're going to cost them money in health costs, and whether you can work and contribute or become a 'leach'.... I'm fairly new in diagnosis so I had a Ultra Sound scan done within the last 2 years, and a letter stating what my function was, that is was stable and had no effect on my life at present. Stacyamy..... presumably you're on some sort of treatment now are you? They'll just want to know you can work and are covered for treatment costs. Now I had delays as I turned up to my medical with just a letter from the GP and they immediately said that is invariably never enough, so I went to the GP that day and got them to scan over everything. This obviously delayed the application by a further week and was a little annoying so don't make my mistake. I saw online within 2/3 weeks that they'd finalised my medical, meaning I'd passed it. Also, if you're going for a 457 visa, its only a 4 year visa and you have to work so apparently, the Dr in London said they can be a little more lenient as its only temporary, you have to work and so long as you're not about to cark it in the next 4 years they're ok. The problem I've been told, might be when it comes to staying perminantly and we can all imagine why... But I'm not worrying about that right now.... just enjoying being here.... think about that later when/if it arises. So how are you guys.... Where did you get with everything.... Max99... Did you go for it?

  11. Hi everyone, I have a question regarding PKD and the health assessment needed for a 457 visa. I've recentely been diagnosed with PKD and am in the process of applying for the 457 visa. At present I am still waiting for my AHPRA nursing registration to come through which I expect in the next few months, and as I'm a nurse will need to have a health check. I obviously have to declare the PKD but does anyone know if this will lengthen my health check process/visa application, and if so by how long. I have already seen a specialist in London and all my kidney function at present is completely normal. Has anyone had to go through the same process, I wonder if starting the health check process before starting my visa application would be advisable as I really need to get out to Oz asap and don't want any delays Your help would be much appreciated Thank you
