His partner is a phlebotomist which is not on the list unless we could go for a regional visa. It is very unfair that only exceptional people with 90+ points are being invited in. He has sent out his resume to 80+ employers with not much luck so far. so sad

Hi all, im looking for help keeping our son and his family here. I’m a citizen and my son and family came out December 2019 on a year visitor visa. Decided after covid struck that they want to stay with us as we are the only grandparents to their 3 boys and we saw how easily we could be kept apart. they submitted an onshore EOI with 70 points but it looks from reading (a lot!) that this is not enough, even when they say minimum 65. our address was classed as ‘regional’ last year but this year is not. We are in qld and I don’t want to lose them. They can’t get remaining relative as his partner still has a sister in Uk. anyone have any options for us? He is a highly skilled carpenter builder. Looking for work sponsorship at this time seems pretty impossible. ................help? Would a migration agent be any help to us?

if you fancy Queensland I know that QDI (Queensland diagnostic imaging) are very short on radiologists. Try contacting them. They could get you out pretty quickly on a 457. On your husbands wage you wouldn't be entitled to any ax benefits anyway. Depends how quickly you want to get over but both of your jobs are in demand here. im in a similar field myself, same company sponsored me and my family were out here 3 months later. That was 6 years ago and we are now settled permanent residents. Brisbane is nice, we are happy. they may even help with relocation costs. up to you. Good luck.

If you were brought up in Perth and you have family ties, wouldn't it be easier to get a returning resident visa?? Just a thought, if you were once a resident it would be a quick way back?? Apologies if I misread your post. good luck!

Getting our son and his family out here at last on the 489. Have patiently waited for him to gain enough work experience to qualify and get enough points! He is a carpenter builder. we came out on 457 then went to a 189 PR. Getting through the process is all about taking it one step at a time. Immigration are pretty helpful over the phone (albeit after a long wait on hold!). Let me know how you go with regards to the timeline of your process, we are still at the stage of getting all docs in order and about to get skills assessment organised. Our postcode is 4301 so we were able to sponsor them. Good luck!

Yes, you need health insurance now. anyone can read up on migration law if they have access to a computer and the internet. I apologise to the OP, good luck, whatever you decide. I won't post again on PIO, I only speak from experience with any advice I offer, yet always face condescension from migration agents. No doubt he will have the last word.

Begging your pardon. Migration agents on this forum, the most informed of any of us, most often response to any question is 'get a migration agent'. It's not rocket science! loads of us have done it alone and been fine. If you are not eligible for a visa, you won't get one, regardless of whether or not you have paid for their services. we started out on a 457 followed by PR a few years later. It was all time consuming but fairly straightforward. If I had questions I rang immigration and they helped me out. Good luck!

Your employer first needs to apply for an employer nomination scheme number. If they are successful then you apply for the visa using the number. It is all done online via the immigration Australia website. You will need to attach all your certificates as scanned and certified copies of the original (a solicitor or professional person can do this). You will need to start gathering your birth cert, education certs, add any written references, all proof you can gather to support your application. You will also need a police clearance certificate from acro (I think) and a chest X-ray. It's fairly straightforward, you wouldn't need an agent. But you do need to prove 4 years experience plus your certification. hope this helps.

PR visa lasts for 5 years. You would all need to renew with a returning resident visa (about $250 each I think). But I don't think you can renew unless you actually live here. Look up the returning residents visa on google for your questions about the future. For now, if your hubby has worked with this employer for at least 2 years they can sponsor you all for 186 visas (that's what we did). But why would you go through the hassle and expense if you are not happy in Perth? Good luck whatever

Hi vinny, hope you find some mates near you. We lived in tarragindi for about 4 years before moving further out of town to Collingwood park near Ipswich. hiw are you guys settling in? Our daughter went to holland park high school and is now at uni and also qualified as a dental nurse. I'm 44 hubby is 48. Sounds like we are a bit older than you guys. holland park is a great area, close to city and the busway. best of luck mate, Mary and Andy
