  1. Hi guys, S'me again. I was wondering if anyone new if there was a database like UK that you can find out about the history of a car, whether its been written off and rebuilt or still under a HPI? I got my eye on one and I'm pretty sure its had its frontend rebuilt. It shouldn't be a problem if it was done properly, but is there any way to check? Many thanks. Dave.
  2. Sweet, NickyNook I like you, I'm already better off. Thats the years yacht club fees and a mooring paid for.
  3. Hi Trasi, just been looking on the Aus Tax Office website about tax and it would appear that this years tax bill (had I been here for the whole year) would be a touch over $6,000 more just because I dont have residence status. This is a quote from the Australian tax office website, for instance $37,000 - $80,000 bracket you would pay $10,730 then 30c on every $1 over $37,000. The 30c rate is the same for residents but they pay less on the lump sum, ie only $4,650. Info found here: http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.aspx?doc=/content/29089.htm
  4. Ah ok, I thought it would be too good to be true, as mother always used to say " if it sounds too good to be true it usually is". Well at least now I can work out my weeks wage roughly enough to be able to work out how much I can spend on rent. I have applied for a tax file number already, I was filling in the form in the airport after landing (I was met by a company rep) Cheers guys for the deflating news! Lol Still glad I did it though:biggrin:.
  5. Hi all, what another nice day in WA. I would like to know what the actual tax situation is for migrants. I arrived here earlier this week and I've heard two or three conflicting stories about paying tax. I know the tax rate is quite high but do migrants pay tax, and starting from when? One such tale said that you don't pay tax for the first 2 years, and another said that you do but claim it back. A local orientation company rep that's working with me, intimates that I will pay tax from day one. A little clarification is definitely required I think, and if I remember rightly, I believe the agency I used in UK said that you don't pay tax too (lies?). Its not that I resent paying tax (no more than anyone else) its just I'd like to be able to work out what my wage is and how much i can afford to rent for. Many thanks one and all. (Best move I've made by the way)
  6. Hi, has anyone shipped a horse over to Aus? I was just looking for some ball park figures as to how ridiculously expensive it could be. Other half said she ain't coming unless she can bring her horse, I told her to get saving. I think i already know that its too much. Anyway, I gotta sell my boats and my bike so why she gotta take the horse?:frown:
