Hi All, I have been looking in to the IMMI site about parent visas lately as I am planning to get my parents down to Melbourne. I noticed that the Non-Contributory Parents visa waiting period has hiked to 30 Years. Now I am looking at Contributory options. I am the Only child and I am planning to proceed with an application within the next year or so. I noticed that there is a deposit of $42000 per parent (correct ?) that need to be kept with the DIAC. My Concern is after paying such money what benefits would my parents get once they come to Australia? I know its a broad question - but if you guys can give me a direction, I would appreciate it. What does it mean? is that they will stop the processing totally or just for the financial year?

I am on 176 relative sponsor, Application lodged on 16/04/2008... I have not got a CO... I dont think they will reach 176's untill Q4 of 2012? What do you think?

I've no idea... I will come soon.... but hard to predict cos Cat4 offshore application processing is kinda slow even though Cat5 onshore is very fast I am currently in Mel finishing my course in May 2012... wondering what to do... 1. should I go for a graduate visa 2. go back and wait for my Cat 5 to come 3. Hi All, I am an offshore applicant under Business and Info NEC. I applied for PR in April 2008 and was wondering when would be a presumable date for a C/O. Would anyone be able to help me with an approximate time line Tks

@mb_jg I applied on the same category and in 2008 I received the file no in April 2008. However, I scored only 6.0 in IELTS so I got only 5 or 10 pts. I received a scholarship from a Melb Uni and I arrived on a 574 Visa in 2010 to Melb, and nearly finishing my thesis hopefully will be graduated in Aug 2012... I am wondering what I can do to stay and work in this country ? Frustrating...
