  1. Hey. Yeah I called Sydney also and confirmed that the Byford Centre is opening on 17th June and they are taking bookings from 3rd June. I've spoken to Bob at PetAir and he has also confirmed that they are having trouble booking the flight path. Typical!!!
  2. Can someone tell me if Byford Animal centre is closed down? We are looking to bring our cat over but the whole UK to Melbourne to Perth flight is putting us off
  3. I have been in Australia 11 months and now have my PR. I'm looking to send my cat over to be with me in Perth. I miss him so much and to be honest as a family we are totally lost without him. He is with my father who is doing a great job of looking after him but I so want him back with us so we can enjoy his great temperament and fun loving life. I'm really worried he wont survive the flight though. Tom, my cat is 9 years old and got knocked down when he was 1 years old. Since then he is very fearful around cars, noise in general. He at times lives on his nerves. I'm worried he wont make the flight due to the noise and commotion around getting him in the create and the number of people that will man handle him. He doesn't take to people very easy either btw. i'm worried his heart will pack in with the trauma of flying. Do you think its more humane to leave him in Scotland or bring him here to OZ with us? Do you know if there is anyway I can get him chilled out in the cage that he pretty much doesn't know where he is and so wont care lol. I know they cant be sedated

  5. I am seeking a new employer i am with a Medical Recruitment Company at the moment and i wish to get out. I have been here for 6 months however i find the politics and staff managment need to be addressed. i have Trades and labour, commercial and Nursing Recruitment background. if you know of any opportunities please get in touch.
  6. Well it was bad enough that therre was no fanfare or flags when i registered at the local migration office to say i was here. But i simply dont know where to go or what is expected. We have a rental, been in it for the past year, I've applied for a car loan as i need a set of wheels (nothing flash) I have a TFN from when i was a temporary resident on WHV, but i dont know what i need to do now. Apply for a new TFN as a PR in Australia, apply for health cover i even hear people talking about tax returns but i have no idea what for or why. slightly more confusing than the application process lol
  7. Now that i have PR and arrived in Perth, what now? Can anyone guide me to the next process?
  8. i'm looking to buy a second hand car from a dealer. when applying for credit they have asked for my previous address from the UK. do they do credit checks overseas?
  9. Well i have to say i am bloody excited to have an email today advising us we have PR!!!! Its a great amount of stress lifted off us. I had thought it was a long drawn out affair but we applied in January 2013, had a case officer by Mid February 2013, had our medicals 11th March 2013, police checks we submitted to immigration Monday 22nd April and visa granted 23rd April .. Thats right less than 24 hours later! We had thought it would be at least a few weeks to a few months!
  10. humm i'll need to check on that one not sure what was ticked for that. I'll need to check
  11. I had treated a Patient with this, here is what is on our good old NHS Website http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Vertigo/Pages/Treatment.aspx
  12. We have been told that it usually depends on the case officer but since then we are now married and it was 4 years ago. We have been together 13 years so surely it shouldn't be an issue... after all we all have dramas. It would be a shame to fall at this point in our application.
  13. i should say it was 4 years ago and we have moved on from that point. We have been living in Perth on a WHV the past year and now on bridging visa's
  14. my wife has a criminal record for "Domestic Abuse Aggravator" assault. Basically we were going through a rough patch and as i asked her to leave she slapped me. doesn't sound serious and i laughed it off. Anyway unfortunately for her a cop car passed by and seen it so arrested her. Anyway the conviction was there on the police check after we expected it not to be. Her sentence was deferred / Admonished basically told not to do it again and if she did then it would be more than a kick in the arse she would get. Is this likely to prevent us from getting our 190 visa? We're kinda worried now

    Flying my CAT!

I have been in Australia for 10 months and we are only a month or so hopefully from getting our PR (i'm here on a WHV). basically i had to leave my wee British Tabby with my Dad in the Uk until i was certain that we would not be returning to the UK. This has taken about 7 months longer than expected and so i have been without my furry friend for all this time. (i skype with my dad on a regular basis and see him lol) Sad as it maybe i miss the little fella, he has such a great character and i'm bloody sure he's more human than i am at times. Any my question is what is the dangers of him flying. Its worth pointing out that he lives on his nerves when it comes to loud noise. He was knocked down by a car at 1yr old and since then he is scared of noise that sounds remotely like a car engine. He has just turned 9 yrs old in September and by the time he gets here he will be almost 10 yrs old. Is there any dangers i should be aware of and do you agree about me bringing him over, he is most likely happy with my dad and living a good life but if i left him i would struggle to accept it. bloody confused! money isn't an issue i'd give my savings just to get him over here
  16. 3 weeks later i've still not had my uk police checks done... they have advised there is a long wait! not happy
  17. Is anyone able to import a car just off their own back. I am in Australia and applied for PR but i've already sold my car back home Audi S5 (gutted to say the least) but if i get PR i would like to buy the same car again but in Australia it will cost $75K where in the UK it will cost $32K (18K British Pounds). Can you import a car here like the UK as a Gray import or something?
  18. I'm now at week 3 so i hope they will not be much longer. I have heard they can take up to 4 weeks.
  19. how do you find out if medicals have been referred? Dave
  20. I hope you feel better soon hopefully someone will provide help via PiO:eek:
  21. How do you know when your meds have been referred?
  22. i also wanted to buy european like a citroen DS3. Very cheap here in WA. however my boss has a Golf (european obv) and has had a number of expensive problems. Its been said that the fuel quality here is so poor that the european cars don't cope well with it.
  23. We had our medicals done and a paper copy got sent to our home address (we cannot open it and had to send it to Global Health) But our case officer got a copy of our medicals by email and he has them within a week. I would assume it would be the same for you either way.
  24. Have you had your medicals in the post yet from Medibank?
