1.

Hello John & joan noticed your posts on here lately, i lodged last june2011 and my agent thinks i may hear on getting a co hopefully August. I am on a 143 and heading to perth, i have a son over there. I have decided to rent my house due to the current market and exchange rate pretty dire to say the least. Have a family moving in to rent beg of june so it's a mad dash to get straight. It's a very stressful process and i have had lots of sleepless nights were i wake up in the small hours thinking i must be off me rocker, i have beocome friends with Fran on here ' summerdaisy' as she is making the move alone like me so it's good to share worries and know i am not alone, shame she is heading to Brisbane. What part of OZ are you both heading to? will you be fortunate not to have to work, i will i'm afraid but it's a good way of meeting people and i enjoy my job in aged care. Good luck with your process and i hope the time goes as quick as it has for me since i lodged. Ann

 2. Hi Fran, Looks as if the DIAC has speeded up unless as you say the 143 is dealt with slightly quicker than the 173 - anyone else have any thoughts on that? Regards - john and joan
 3. Hi Summerdaisy, We applied for our 173 CPV in January and it was acknownledged as having been lodged in their office on the 5 January 2012 and that they were currently processing applications received and acknowledged on the 21 October 2012!! Looking at this time scale I am assuming (hopefully) that our application may start to be processed this time next year - unless the DIAC suddenly speed up the process (wishful thinking!). Regards - johnandjoanmarty
 4. Hi all not posted anything for some time as get really down when I think of the length of time we will have to wait for our CPV 173 which was lodged with the Perth centre on the 5 January 2012 - when I read all the other posts I think that means it will be about this time next year before we will be allocated a CO! But being positive we have been talking about bank accounts and where to live - both our children live in Melbourne, one in Bacchus Marsh and the other in Toorak (although this will not be where she will be able to afford to buy!). The question that we keep asking ourselves is it more cost effective to live with our children till we find somewhere permanent or is it better to store our belongings until that time. Not sure of how much it costs to store or rent. Also has anyone shipped their car to Oz and if so what was your experience? Staying positive in the meantime and hoping that all of a sudden the queue will start to move faster than it has recently.
 5. Hi we have just submitted our CPV application and know it will be a while before it is granted, but are looking ahead to how all the financial things will be dealt with. My OH has a private work pension and also his government pension and he was wondering how this will work out. He is not sure how the logistics of how he will be paid will work. Will they go into in Australian bank account as English pounds or AUD, if they go in as English pounds and are then transferred into AUD will there be a transfer charge. Also he pays tax on his pensions here, when he has moved will the tax be deducted at source here or will he be taxed on his pensions in Australia. He will not be working. Many thanks for any information. Regards. JohnandJoanMarty.
 6. Hi my name is Joan and I am new to Pomsinoz. I have two children and 3 grandchildren who all live in Melbourne, the most recent to move to Oz is my daughter Sara who is a Nurse in the Alfred Hospital and moved to Melbourne two months ago. My husband John and I have decided to take the plunge and apply for a parent visa in order to be near our family. We have submitted a 173 Visa application in the last week. We have chosen this visa to help us spread the cost of the application over two years, because as anyone who has applied for a contributory parent visa knows that it is very expensive! We have tried to find out how long after the grant of the visa do you have to validate the visa, but unfortunately no one seems to be able to give us answer. Is there anyone who has applied for and been granted a 173 visa and if so how long did you get before you had to enter Australia. If anyone can give us an idea of the time span we would be very grateful. Many thanks. John and Joan.
