ur obviously not from scotland then mate, not at all theres nothing sellfish about it! my partner also sees it as a great opportunity aswell. if the education is the same then thats fine, atleast there will be things to do after school for them and weekends, here theres nowt, crimes gettin alot worse and the rain stops u doin things aswell. sorry but i only see positives in wanting to move my family over there. maybe i dont know the outcome there in 15 years but i have a good idea what itll be like here. im an electrician so shouldnt be 2 difficult, have family in adelaide 2

    help

was wondering if any1 has been in similar situation, family of 4, myself, my partner and 2 boys aged 6 and 1. we would love to live in australia but theres a tiny problem, the oldest is not my real son and his father would stop him going, he visits his father every 2nd weekend and a day through the week but the oldest is keen on the idea of moving. the whole point in it is to give the boys a better future. is there any hope for us without the fathers consent? or if it involves court who are they likely to side with. any help would be great
  14. hello every1 looking for a bit advice on hallett cove and sheidow park, like the look of both but is 1 any better than the other? also how far is it away to the 1st decent sandy beach ie glenelg, or are there more and how far, were a family of 4, 2 boys aged 6 and 1 any feedback would be great
  15. thanks for the advice mate, well we like weekends away, day trips and the outdoor living, kinda the point in us wanting to move over cause here ur stuck in all the time and its miserable, just trying to weigh up all the pros and cons of both places then taking it from there. we have plenty time so just trying to do as much research as possible. ive heard the mozzies in adelaide are far worse than brisbane, is this true? silly things like that could be the difference on where to live although brisbane gets dark really early where adelaide doesnt so thats a big plus for adelaide as id like to sit out for a bit in the back yard or so on weekdays after work, also how cold is adelaide in winter? brisbane seems to have pretty decent year round weather but with the early nights its a toughy to decide. any advice good or bad is appreciated
  16. first, thanx alot both of you for takin the time to reply to my post some great info and advice there. yeh would have to be near or nearish a beach for the sake of the kids....and me haha! are there any other great beaches in brisbane other than surfers paradise?? i like the fact theres always something to do aswell where as back here theres very little and always weather permitting. is brisbanes early darkness a problem? my visions of life in oz is if ur not out gallavanting ur out the back yard mucking around etc, that would be a struggle after work in brisbane so does weekends make up for the fact that u cant really get up to much through the week? i have relatives in adelaide, hallett cove and with it being light later at nights would mean i could enjoy time outside after work, although hallett cove looks nice there doesnt look much to do, id be worried we got bored pretty quick i'd like a nice quiet suburb but with plenty to do nearby, sorry about all the questions and if i dont make much sense ha! the qld weather sounds pretty decent, is south better then north ie avoiding cyclones etc
  17. hi there my names tony, i live in scotland with my partner and 2 sons aged 6 and 1. im an electrician and my partner is a carer. im wondering how much it costs the average family of 4 to emigrate 2 oz? if any1 could help that would be great, also where to live, i always fancied adelaide but now find myself swaying towards brisbane, i like the fact in adelaide that the sun doesnt go down until 8 or 9pm unlike brissie when its more like 7, although the weather in brissie seems to be alot better. ive also heard there isnt much to do in adelaide? is this true? does any1 know if the humidity in brisbane is really that bad as this would be slightly off putting. with brissie weather being so nice in winter ur able to splash in the pool antime of year, is that possible in adelaide with winters not so mild? any answers would be appreciated, many thanks
