Thank all for your advice. I have a bit more of an idea now of what areas to research and will have fun checking out properties online in those areas - nice just to look at the pictures while they threaten a siberian winter here.

I saw a wonderful property in Roleystone but I think this is probably too far out.

We are moving to perth in september and I have been looking online at possible places to rent. I have fallen in love with Perth Hills and wondered if anyone can give me some insight into what it's like to live there - are the secondary schools any good and is it doable to commute to central perth.

Thanks for your links. I will check them both out. The camping one sounds particularly enticing. I'm looking forward to camping in the sunshine rather than the continous rain that typifies the UK summer these days. May even be able to take my coat off.

Can anyone recommend a good map of perth/freemantle suburbs and immediate surroundings? We are moving to perth next year and I just want a map I can peruse while checking out possible areas to live and properties on the internet.
