  1. Hi,

I am Irish and was working in Dublin for 5 years before moving to Oz permanently in 2013.

Is it possible to bring over any pension I have accrued in Ireland and use it towards a deposit for a house in Oz or is it locked until I am 70?

And how do I go about transferring? I've had trouble finding clear info on the web.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dec

  2. Thanks Andy,

We got credit through Harvey Norman to buy a fridge, but it was limited. We don't have assets or debt (except the fridge) and I have full time work since July, but we have only been renting since late November. I think once time passes we'll have no problem, but foir now it's a waiting game. Just not sure how long.

    Cheers,

    Dec

  3. Hi,

I tried to organise credit here using Ezi LEase, but was told there was not enough info to give me a rating. I asked what was needed, the man on the phone said he "can't tell me that" and was generally unhelpful. As it turns out, their interest rates are very bad anyway so I'm better off.

But how does it work here (NSW)? I have been here since March 2013. I've been in fulltime permanent work since July 2013. I've been in a permanent address since Nov 2013. I'm also a permanent resident (Returning) as I was first resident (Defacto) in 2002 and we are now married with a son.

So my question is... When can I expect to be able to get a credit rating?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dec

  4. We can certainly help with the process regardless of where you are coming from and also which ever removals company you use should make little difference. We can look after the customs clearance including valuation of the vehicle here in Australia, then take it from there for the stages required to get it ready to drive on the road here. Obviously with freight already being included you will only need to look at the costs once it lands here which should be roughly as follows:

$1,100-1,500 customs, quarantine & port fees

    $75 import duty

    $306 GST

    -- road registration costs --

    $750 ADR compliance

    $150 roadworthy requirements

    $600 registration (12 months)

    $45 stamp duty

All costs are in AUD$. Our service fee will be additional and the cost will depend on what you require exactly, if you already have Australian import approval, etc.

Please check what the extra cost is going to be for the 40 foot container to include the car as it could well be more than the cost of shipping the car on it's own. If we were going to handle shipping the car alone then it might cost around £375 for transport from Belfast or Dublin, plus around £950 for the ocean freight. If the extra container space and vehicle packing fees are around £1,350 or less then going with the container would be the better option, otherwise we should look at the normal RORO shipping option also.

    Regards,

    Craig @ Iron Lady Imports

    Thanks Craig,

The Container charge seems to be roughly the same as Roro. When you add the extra Australian costs, it seems that it wouldn't be worth it for us. So going by the original post in this thread, our car would be a category C. Would you agree or am I adding it wrong?

    Thanks again.
