  1. That's really nice to read  I am anticipating the day I can go back and live there. Never knew Istanbul was held in such high regard, I'll have to visit en route to Aus
  2. Mumty

    Brisbane

    Congratulations to you !
  3. What are your requirements? Do you want a beach, schools, shops? If you want cheapest I'd say that rules out the major cities - I haven't lived there bar Sydney when I was young but apart from that, I have read various articles on how expensive they are. I think if you want to be in a big city - Adelaide may be the cheapest option (but still deer.) If you don't want to live in a major city - the bush is your best option.
  4. Have a great journey! Please keep us informed of your new life, I'm so envious!
  5. From what I read, Perth seems right for you. Nice suburbs and lovely beaches + it's a popular destination from emigrating families so you will definitely meet some families like out there with kids.
  6. Hi, I was just wondering about the jobs in Sydney - do you need prior experience for a job? I know they'd prefer people with experience, but does all the degrees and school exam results count in a job interview! My parents always try to scare me by saying "youll never get a job in Sydney unless you study hard" but then reading blogs, people get jobs fairly handy. So of you went with only a basic qualification (or none) does it really lower you chance of getting a decent job (by decent, I mean bar work, waiter etc.)
  7. I won't need to worry about this anyway since I have the birth certificate but it sucks for other people! I must tell my unqualified, school leaving cousin who wants to go apply now!
  8. Then young people fresh out of school looking for a new experience have no chance :dull::dull:
  9. What so from July 1st you are on a waiting list to apply (so delaying the process for a year?) that sucks.
  10. Thanks for the replies. They dont hate Oz (I've asked them before) but they are adamant its in their past and our family is here and they have jobs, but 3 weeks is hardly a long time  Whereas 3 years is so long away, it could be even more if they ship off to a university (and there's no chance in hell I'm allowed go to University of NSW even though my mother worked there) .I just wish I could go for a week or two because if I don't like it, I won't be wishing days away thinking what it could be like.
  11. You won't get much for less than $100, even the good motels can be over $100. Campsite might be good, also, but I think you should expand your budget a bit for a bit more comfort even.
  12. Thanks for replying. I have told them many times what I was feeling, but I just can't seem to get though to me. I don't have family, but one of my friends who I say in contact wih says I can stay with his family.
  13. The minute I left Sydney as I kid I have wanted to go back there, but my parents are relenting, they keep saying "it's in our past now" etc. and since then they havent gone back, not for one holiday or nothing  So how do I convince them to go back? Next Christmas would be ideal as I am in a slow year in school and my sister is old enoug to fly (which was one of their previous excuses.) Im actually so frustrated. I haven't seen any of my friends in 6 years (I still keep in contact with them) but my parents have cut off all relations with the place. The thoughts of having to wait for another 3 years or more is killing me because they won't let me go on my own until I am 18 or 19. So how do I convince them to go?
  14. Don't go to Manly for the nightlife! The beaches are great but apart from a few restaurants, the party scene is nonexistent, I'd recommend something close to Kings Cross if you want to be near it all. But please don't go to Refern.
  15. I'll be biased here because I was born in Randwick and its a nice upmarkey residential area. I have the money, I'd reccomend living around the Coogee Bay Road area, which is a close walk to Coogee Beach, which in my humble opinion, is better than Bondi - same character with half traffic So Randwick would be very nice if you have money.
