  1. hi guys just to let yous know how i got on with everything! i got my s.a. license after waiting about 2 months! did not rush to apply for the qld license as my qld employer immediately accepted the s.a. license as valid ( i know some employers that refuse to do so) applied for my qld license last week and am still waiting to hear back from them! 3 irish friends of mine hae recently had no issues obtaing a qld license with their s.a tickets through mutual recognition although they say their new qld tickets came with a danming cover letter claiming that they have obtained ot through an unprofessional manner ( i.e the peer route) if anyone needs any advice id be willing to help them out wherever i can
  2. hi mate i just recently took a job out there on a mine makin top coin and living in the town itself but realy not enjoying it, possibly be made better for you if travelling there with a partner as there is a shortgae of single women there haha, it is a nice place but just not an awful lot to do outside of work hours, the local airport charges extortionate prices as at the moment its only quantas flying from there but soon to be virgin operations there so hears hoping the prices will drop dramatically, general prices of everything is quite high so be warerly of that, let us know if you move down
  3. currently in a fly in fly out ming job and lookin for like minded fun people to meet up with while on working roster, irish electrician still in bagpacker frame of mind, if interested let me know
  4. hi mate wish i could tell ye exactly how to go about the recognition but i dont, ive just recently went through the process of getting my irish electrical cert changed over, i presume it would be a very similar process tho so you can give this route a look,, type in australian recognised trade certificate on google and youl find you trade listed and just follow the links, it took me just under 3 months for the trade rec cert to be processed as theres backlogs from the amount of irish and brittish applying these days, im currently on a mine now working full time and it would be near impossible to get a start without the correct licenses and certs mate but best of luck with the process
  5. yeah mate, was honestly the easiest electrical exam ive ever sat and the whole class felt the same, its a complete money scam. (not that im complaining as i would have failed if it was anything near the standard of back home- ireland) the instructor was so keen to pass us we were givin the exact questions of anythin tough prior to the exam and sure i had the pre worked out ansers on me desk as i sat the exam, lads that got wrong ansers were given a tipex pen, the correct solution and told to change their ansers, so rest assured as long as you get that artc cert processed you will get your aussie license. the day of the final exam i went to the licensing office in the city produced me artc and wiring cert paid the 388 bucks and should be expecting my S.A. license in the post within four weeks which i will be converting over to a qld license straight away i think that will cost 85 dollars.
  6. well a month has gone by and i sit me exam in two days, not one reply in response to my request for 'any' help, wat a 'helpfull' forum website this has proven to be
