  1. I am so sorry to hear this. Have you managed to sort anything yet? Where did you work?
  2. I have lost my GCSE's in recent moves, I have NVQ's that I will send along with a letter from the school that I am getting certified from a solicitor. I do not want them to throw it away. I have been speaking to the WA office and didnt realise you could send it to any branch. I have also sat an IELTS but didnt get a 7.0 in reading GGGGRR. Not sure whether that would be worth while copying and sending. I might have to contact my school to see where I can get replacement certificates then. Regarding the employer what should this letter say? I am so worried about asking them. Thank you so much for your advice, I wouldnt know what to do without you all.
  3. Thank you so much for that. My senior school is sending me a letter in the post. I have contacted my university and awaiting for their response. I will contact NMC as well. I need a letter from my current employer? What should my employer say? I am embarrassed to ask them for a reference and not sure sure what the letter should entail. Many thanks
  4. Hi I am looking at the 457 visa option. I am so worried about working for an employer who is known to be not a great working environment or letting people down and making them redundant etc. Can people recommend any hospitals they work at or heard some stories about? Many thanks Michelle
  5. Hi Thank you so much for that. Sorry in the delay in replying I have been working and its been a very tough week at the moment. I maybe in denial lol but I just keep thinking surely any job in oz must be better working conditions than I am exposed to lol. Thats being silly I know. I am going to start a thread asking peoples experiences who they recommend. I have so far Transcript from university Diploma certificate A letter from my secondary school arriving shortly stating I studied at thier school from 1990-1995 and I gained 8 GCSE's including maths and English I will be getting a copy of my NMC renewal pin number shortly due in September. Is there anything I am missing'? Fees or any paperwork. Also I am waiting for an umbilical hernia operation, which the doctor said wont stop a VISA post operation. However, I am overweight and wanting to lose weight too. I am doing now, just taking ages!! Been told this does not stop a visa, but further tests would need to be done. I have not taken any time off work or been to the GP about anything weight related illness. I am going to see my nurse next week and will ask for some blood tests to make sure I am 100% fit. I so want this. So do I get registered with APHRA then apply for jobs and then the VISA? Would you recommend a migration agent? I have 1 years experience and I am unsure as to how I gain pr status out there? I am so nervous about this and I hope with the NHS demands Australia will like me and see i am not a sticky bum lol.
  6. Hi I am currently going through the registration process. I have been advised I need a letter from my school and transcript from my university and I can get this countersigned by a relevant body. However, how long does this process take? I am looking to apply for jobs and a 457 VISA, but surely being registered would beneficial for my CV and application. I have all the documents including my NMC registration. Do I need anything from my university stating hours I worked when studying? Is there a fee this part they continue to not reply when I ask but merely tell me I can apply and will be able to work a a nurse in Perth without the IELTS. I still dont know or can find how much the fee is unless I am being blind. Sorry i need help...
  7. Hi Thank you for your advice. I'm hoping being a nurse there would be enough demand and hoping with a less chance of redundancies. I feel the 28 day is rather harsh considering you have all moved abroad, especially being able to get credit on a 457 it doesn't make sense. Oh well. I hope it all goes well for you, sounds like a right nightmare and please keep in touch to let me know how you got on. Unfortunately my husband does not have any qualification in his job to be able to get any points and being 33 I'm losing points if I do not start the process. I need to see if I still need to do an ielts for registration and awaiting response at the moment.
  8. Hi I am thinking about going down the 457 route, as I have only 1 years experience in nursing. I need a band score of 8.0 to get a pr visa, unless we go down 489 which means we are not able to live in the areas we like. We have recently come back from a reccie and decided to buy/live if we were successful in Brighton new build. My husbands job is in demand in Perth city. This would be another problem. I am also concerned about the lack of points against those more senior to me on the eoi part and I will not get invited. My daughter is 13 this year (year 8) I limited with time due to education. We are looking to go on the 457 route, but I'm worried about the 30 day rule. Now the transmission from 457 to pr after 2 years seems simple this would be a good option. I'm so scared about this rule. I'm also thinking being a nurse I should be able to get sponsored and I will join agencies to work in case I do lose my job. Any advice would be welcomed. I will ask my agent to help me get registered. I believe I can register with the nursing agency without an ielts. It's the skills assessment that requires an ielts. I was born in the uk, all my education has been in English.
  9. Hi I am soooooo frustrated. I have done the IELTS twice now, althouh my reading has improved from 5.5 to 6.0 I still failed it. I need a 7.0 in each to register and to gain my skills assessment for my visa. GGRRRR. I am so frustrated, I am english native, but struggling with this paper! I am going to book 2 in a row and I just hope that I get my score. Sorry need to vent, I am desperate to get out there and may start seing if I can gain registration directly and go on a 475, but with kids and the 30 day rule it worries me. Also would I need to do this IELTS anyway to gain a permenant visa in the end. :arghh:
  10. Thank you, you will soon find out that I panic about everything! I dont even know how I passed my exams with the fear I have, lol. The reason it scares me, is being fired and having to go back to the UK with no home. I understand there are lots of people who do it, but the agent did not give me much hope when I suggested that path. I have emailed a few hospitals today about sponsorship. I am also going out in June to view schools and areas to rent. We are definately serious and being told that yesterday about the 457 made my heart sink. His point was they may not like you and you may have 2 years of working with someone you cannot work with. I am thinking along the lines of surely it cant be worse than a NHS run hospital lol. We have clicky groups as well.
  11. I am just worried after an agent said I would never go on a 457! I can see the appeal and my daughter being 13 in December is very tempting. I am so scared of them getting rid of me. There has to be so much trust either end. I read now with the new changes you have to be there for 2 years before PR? We need to sell our house too. Good luck by the way sounds fantastic, my friend moved to Queensland on Monday and is loving it. Be interested to keep in touch on how the 457 is working for you if thats ok?
  12. Thank you for your replies. I am looking into Western Australia and apparently the Regional State Sponsorship is 1 years experience 176. I have also looked at Royal Perth, Ramsay Health, Freemantle etc and they said they would take nurses with my experience. I only have a year I do not get points there. My age has let myself down and the fact my qualification is a Higher Diploma. I think unless I get the 8.0 on IELTS I will fall 5 or 10 points short. I looked online at the Regional State, it looks like that again is a points of 65 and I am still shy of that unless I get this 8.0, which I am so worried about. The option of the 457 and possibly fired scares me so much with children. I will apply for my skills as soon as I get the 7.0. Its just how we would go out there and my nursing career is on a Gastro/Diabetic ward, but we do have other illnesses, but majority in that area.
  13. Hi I am feeling really down today I have had conflicting advice from several agents and I so confused. For instance, I am a RN, aged 33, higher diploma, 1 years experience and married. I understand I need to do academic IELTS for the 7 for skills assessment and 8.0 for DIAC for extra points. I am so worried I am not intelligent enough for this exam. I am waiting for my IELTS results I did a little while ago, but I lost track of time in the reading one I would not have got 7 in that paper. I spoke to an agent yesterday, who was not convinced that I would be able to emigrate and the 457 with children is way to risky. Especially the 28 day door way if they do not like and change their mind. I am so confused and feeling really upset that we may not be able to emigrate. We booked flights for June to view some schools and now feel that I am teasing myself. Every year I get older the closer it gets to losing more points. Any advice, would be wonderful. :em4600:
  14. Hi I am a registered nurse in the UK, with 1 years experience in Sept. I have been told I need a 7.0 in ielts to get registration and a 8.0 for english for visa application, which I can do on the general, but academic for registration. I cannot apply for my VISA until September and will be using a migration agent. My worries are, I will only have 65 points and would this basically mean no invitation to apply. If I went on the 457 I would not need to eoi. However, does the 457 still work on a points programme? or could I register and then start applying for jobs? The concern of the 457, is losing my job and having 28 days in finding another job. Am I right after 1 year I can apply for pr? Also with the skilled regional sponsorship, would I need to apply for a job prior to lodging the visa for skill select? I am so confused and I read more then get even more confused. :arghh:
