Nice to know so many Northerners around. We are from Blackpool and now live on the Sunshine Coast. Been here since January and are liking it so far.

Have a look at Little Mountain and Currimundi. Nice areas and good schools.

Hi Finally got here after 5 years of should we shouldn't we and we are now living with rellies (short-term) in Currimundi. Got to sort out school this week and we are looking at Mountain Creek, Chancellor High and Meridan. Talk about confusing and I've not even visited them yet. Would love to meet up. Only been here a week but already feels strange not have any friends to talk too :sad: Jo

Hi Judy We are moving over to the Currimundi/Little Mountain area in January. Our kids are a bit older than yours (12 &10) but we have been looking at Meridan State College which I think starts at prep and goes through to Year 12. My husband visited in March this year and had a look at the school. He was quite impressed. They have three schools on one campus (Junior, Middle and Senior). Its a very new school. My sister-in-law lives in Currimundi and says that, besides Meridan, she has heard that Talara Primary school is excellent and I think Currimundi is in catchment for that. I have phoned Meridan and they were really pleasant and helpful. To enrol they need birth certificates, proof of residency and an assurance that we are residing with relatives but will eventually live in the catchment area (this is done by affadavit certfied by JPs when you get over here - no problem as you can just go into post office/library and they are signed for free). We also have to have an interview with the headmistress. We are also going to have a look at Mountain Creek State High School which I believe has a primary school attached with a good reputation. We have just booked our one way flights tonight for January. Even though we have told our kids (12 year old daughter and 10 year old son) what is happening, they refuse to believe it and my son was hysterical tonight. He will not even talk to us about it and when we try to talk to him he starts singing and puts his hands over his ears!!!:arghh: I did manage to talk to my daughter and basically she doesn't want to know until she is at the airport. So be it. We know that they will love it once settled but trying to get that over to them is really difficult. The best thing I can think to do is just remain positive and hope that my vibes rub off. Thanks for all your replies. Will definitely look at Buderim area. Sounds great. We have already done a couple of reccies - one to Sunshine Coast and one to Gold Coast but we must have by-passed Buderim lol !! The Rossi's - We have decided to use Pickfords. We have heard good and bad about most removal companies. My Sister-in-law used Pickfords for her relocation and didn't have any problems. Plus they were the cheapest by £300!!.

Hi everyone We are a family of 4 (44, 42, 12 & 11)moving to the Sunshine Coast In January. We looking at moving to Little Mountain or Mountain Creek areas. Would love to know more about the schools in that area, if anyone can help. Anybody with kids who go to Meridan State College or Mountain Creek State High school? Booked shippers today and now it feels very, very real. We are excited but very nervous at the same time and feeling like our brains will explode!!. :arghh: We have rellies in Currimundi to stay with the first week or so before we find a short term rental. We do not have jobs at the moment but hopefully that will change after a few weeks/months of being over there. Would love to meet up with others in the area. Cheers Jo
