  1. Thank you!! Yeah totally agree, it's a fabulous car! Gutted we are selling it to be honest.. No takers yet, will be shipping it home at this rate will accept lower offers! X
  2. Hi everyone! Selling our lovely car as we are returning to the UK, only owned the car 8 months and purchased from dealership. 2 owners, 2010 plate and only 16000km on the clock. Silver, all the bells and whistles, alloys, GPS, Bluetooth, A/C etc.. We are in Sydney (Neutral Bay) Rego until June 2013. Any interested parties feel free to get in touch via PomsinOz. Thanks! Hayley
  3. Hi all.. We have been here since January, me, my other half and our bubbas; little girl aged 2.5 and little boy 1.5. We live in Neutral Bay and always keen to meet new people! Hayley x
  4. Hi all, only just found this thread after posting something similar in the NSW forum :)We (Me- Hayley) and (OH- Tom) and the little ones have been here for 3 weeks and now living in Neutral Bay. Tom is working flat out and now we have moved into our house me and the babies (aged 2 and 1) need to start making friends and get out the house Anyone made any plans yet? PM me if interested in meeting up!
  5. Hi all.. We made it here and phew what a journey!! Ha. We have done our very short and unsuitable stint in the temp apartment in Coogee- now just trying to get settled in our lovely house in Neutral bay.. Loving the area and so chuffed with our choice, but now all the chaos has died down and the hubby is flat out working I am looking for advice on things to do with the little ones aged 2 and 1. Guess I'm just looking for people with similar aged little ones in the area who fancy meeting up, or who have any tips on things to do and where to meet people done some local exploring and earmarked the local preschools and playgroups etc, I'm all for looking out of the area a bit more but we haven't sorted a car yet and the bus can be somewhat hazardous with a double buggy and a defiant 2 year old! Ha. So if any one has any top tips or fancies meeting up then feel free to get in touch Hope you have all been enjoying the glorious Sydney sunshine and hope to hear from you soon l.. Hayley
  6. Hi Pintpot, You raised some excellent points and I love your very measured response. You have totally reaffirmed my thoughts so thankyou for that. I think as time is ticking by so quickly we are freaking out about getting the right area. We have always loved to eastern suburbs since this all started and our temp accommodation is in Coogee and I'n excited for that part of our journey. I need to know that there will be plenty of things going on, people around etc etc to keep me and the babies busy and hopefully get us settled quicker. Will definitely have a look at Lane Cove so thanks for that suggestion, I think Mosman has been mentioned many times so will give that a look- although it is probably out of our budget. Sydney is sickeningly expensive isnt it! Much appreciated
  7. Hi all, Firstly I apologise as I am sure this has been covered a number of times. We move to Sydney in 2 weeks with our 2 children who are 2 and 1. We were always looking at the Eastern Suburbs for rental places but at the last minute we have been suggest suburbs the other side of the CBD, places like Beecroft in the North West. Having looked at it you can get more for your money but we wondered what people thought about the pros & cons compared to the Eastern Suburbs? Key concerns for us are the commute to the CBD, don't really want longer than one hour and also I am keen to make sure there is stuff for me to do with the kids in the day. Thanks all Hayley xx
  8. Hi Frostie, we are flying out of the UK on 1st Jan 2012 arriving in Sydney on 5th. We are also going on a 457 visa with my fiancée's current employer, we have 2 children aged 2 and 1. I am quite excited but getting serious cold feet syndrome as time goes on, we are only planning on staying for a maximum of 4 years then heading back to set up on our own. Its such an amazing opportunity and we couldn't have possibly turned it down so going to give it a go, all paid for by his company Our temp accommodation has been booked, a little 2 bed place in Coogee. Coogee and the surrounding suburbs are where we are looking to live so our relocation agent is going to set up a good amount of properties to view when we get there. Its going to be an absolutely crazy few weeks until we go. We arent planning to take alot with us, and we only rent here so hoping to sell the lot and start again out there. Our family and friends are putting a brave face on it all, and are dead chuffed for the opportunity we have got, some are envious aswell. As for our mothers, they are taking it the hardest which in turn is so hard on me. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just Tom and I going, its the taking the babies away that is particularly hard for them I think. Good luck for your move!! Hayley x
  9. Hi all.. Our flights are now booked and we are leaving the UK and heading to Sydney on the 1st Jan. We have booked a stop over for 2 nights in Singapore, so looking for any tips on must sees etc! We have 2 small children aged 2 and 1, thanks in advance!! Hayley x
  10. We got our date for the move on Friday so its very real now! Ha, we are arriving in Sydney 5th Jan 2012 so not long now. Thanks for the link and the advice, having the babies should in theory make it a bit easier to meet people still not sold on exactly where we fancy living so hoping to get some clarification when we get out there!! Thanks again x

  12. We had the option to go before or after and we chose after for the reasons pp mentioned- we want to spend Christmas with the family. Good luck with the move!
  13. Hi and thankyou to both of you, very imformative responses!! Yes thats where he will be working, I didn't know the general area so just pulled the address off the company website lots of food for thought there. We want somewhere within decent commuting distance but dont want to be in the hub of it all so those suggestions give us something to really think about. We do have a relocation company helping us also but want as much info off our own backs aswell. Funny you mention Maroubra Shusselman, as we did look at properties there- seem to get a lot more for your money. Somewhere with a nice collection of preschools/playgroups is absolutely essential for my sanity and for the babies. We know a few people out there but they are singletons and couples, so getting alot of different things out of living in Sydney! Tom will have his job but I wont be working so really need my own support network going on. As for living distance from beaches etc, we are very realisitic about that and presuming living by the sea costs $$$'s I don't mind it being a bit of a trek. We do want a nice lot of shops and things locally though, young children and all that they need/want at all times of the day and night And as my closing point- I read your blog Shusselman and think it is absolutely fab. Thanks for giving us mums making the move so much advice and things to think about. Keep up the good work! x
  14. Hi everyone, new to the forum and looking for some advice from you lovely people!! Sorry as I suspect this subject has been done to death We are moving to Sydney in the new year and are currently looking at ideal areas to live within decent commuting distance to Darling Park (somewhere up to an hour preferably). We are a young family; myself- 24, my partner 25 and our 2 children aged 2 and 1. Want somewhere with a nice family feel, sense of community, places for me to meet other young mums etc. The budget is up to approx $800 a week, give or take a bit.. Thankyou in advance, my mind is totally boggled with where to start really! Hayley x
