I bet you are counting down the days now :-) Secret Harbour is AWESOME :-) I'm just waiting for everyone to wake up and then we will head down to to the beach at Secret Harbour for the day. I am not aware of any anti-social behaviour in that area, but as you say you get it in any area, wherever you are in the world! We live in Baldivis and love it here too. You ask about the rental market - we were very lucky as we got the first house that we applied for. But I know others aren't so fortunate. Good luck with the last few months - you will love it over here :-)

Have you come across Ozhouserental? We used it for the first 2 months or so until we found a long-term unfurnished rental - can highly recommend them (not sure what properties they have around $400/wk though but it's worth contacting Tracey to find out http://www.ozhouserental.com/) Perth is awesome - you'll love it :biggrin:

Hi all, not been on here for a while. Well, we came out one month ago today and have loved every second of it so far!! Perth truly is a wonderful place and we feel so blessed to be here! Lots and lots of happy tears :-) We have secured a fab long-term rental in Baldivis and can't wait to move in! Just need our furniture to arrive (although our furniture will get lost in the house!!). I got a job last week and started today - so all good. We just love the fact that we can go for a stroll at the beach most days/evenings - sometimes we can even see dolphins! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!! :wub:

So glad you have settled in well, nycplanner. Time sure flies when you have fun, huh! I am sure your tips will be greatly received by those preparing to come over. There seems to be a big difference between the rental market in Melbourne and in Perth. It is incredibly competitive here in Perth. Good luck with your new life in this amazing country!

Hi all, we arrived in Perth on Monday and love every second of it!! The day we arrived it was 34 degrees but after that it was a lot cooler, which is good as it helps us to get used to the heat. We used this week purely as a holiday break, so the hard work starts next week again looking for jobs, cars, house, registering with medicare, TFN etc etc etc. Perth is beautiful and is everything we hoped it would be. We live in Waikiki / Rockingham and love it down here! We have no desire to be any closer to the city (not city people at all!!!) but I guess it will depend where we end up getting jobs. The only downside is that the 'better' high schools all seem to be NOR so there are a lot to think about and to research before we settle in one area. But for now, we are loving it.

I think 1 week may be pushing it a bit as it is quite tough to get a rental at the moment. But you may be lucky! We didn't want to take a chance so booked in for 2 1/2 months - a long time, I know, but we want to make sure we check out all the neighbourhoods, schools etc before looking for a house.
