  2. The spring bank holiday started as the Monday after Pentecost. This is known as Whitsun or Whit Monday in the United Kingdom. The Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971, moved this bank holiday to the last Monday in May, following a trail period of this arrangement from 1965 to 1970. 4. Hi, Thanks for your reply that has helped a lot. After telling my hubby what you said, he has decided to wait and qualify in Australia. He did say that he does not want to sit around and do nothing for the next two years while I qualify and everything for our move gets arranged. He is wondering if there are any qualifications that he could start training for here that would be transferablei to a training course in Australia. So in other words is there a way he can het started over here and then complete his training out there. Thanks
  5. Hi, I will be qualifiying as a midwife soon and would like to move to Australia. Will I be able to get a visa as a newly qualified or will I have to have a few years experience? Also what is the best route to go. Would it be best to apply for a visa and then come out and find a job or is it possible to apply for jobs and be sponsored by the hospital or healthcare trust. Is there a difference is you are state sponsored? Thanks
  6. I am really new to this, so sorry for all the questions, but, is it the hospital that sponsors you or is it the state?
  7. I think what I am really trying to find out is if I would be offered a job and get sponsorship as a newly qualified midwife, or do they insist on having a number of years experience.
  8. Hi, I am a student midwife and we will be trying to emigrate to Australia on my career. My hubby is a retired firefighter and is looking to re-train, he would like to train as an electrician, but, does not want to waste time on qualifications that will not be accepted in Australia. Can anyone help with what would be the best route for him to train in the UK so that he can work as an electrician in Australia. Thanks
  9. Hi, I am currently a student midwife. I am wondering whether I would be able to get a job and a visa once I qualify. I understand that some healthcare trusts want 2 years experience, but, I have been told that I could join a graduate programme in Australia. Does anyone have any help with this. Thanks
