  3. Thank you for this post. I think sometimes you have to distance yourself from a place or situation in otrder to see the good things about it. This was exactly my case with the UK. I love Australia but its not my home and I can truly appreciate what an amazing country my British home is having been away from it for 7 months. Hoping to return at the end of the year
  4. Thanks for your post, Dave. You have summed up a lot of my feelings and my heart is definitley telling me I belong in the UK with my family. How easy/ difficult did you find it to get a job back in the UK. The economy, particularly high unemployment has got me worried sick.
  5. Hi all, Pommy Paul's post has got me worried. We are planning to return to UK at the end of 2012. I have not settled and am missing family and friends like crazy. I am just so worried that OH will find it really difficult to find work. We will be returning to Noth east England where decent IT jobs are like gold dust. But now im concerned that its difficult even to get a job as a shelf stacker in Sainsbury's. I know theres a major recession on but I would just like to hear some positive posts from people who have returned and managed to successfully make a new life in the UK. (I dont for one minute think the old life will be there waiting for us) Its got to get better...surely?
  6. Now that I am in OZ I watch WDU without the rose tinted glasses. They show the most amazing houses at totally unrealistic prices. The first family reckoned they would be £2000 a month better off -YES because they both worked full time and she didnt work in UK. There was no mention of child care for little ones which is very expensive. Im now convinced the whole series is a propaganda machine to recruit clueless Brits to Oz. And yes I fell for it!
  7. Hi we are moving to North Wollongong area next week after only 4 weeks in Oz. OH is looking for IT work and I am waitig for teaching paperwork to be processed. we have 2 kids - Ben 12 and Kate 8. Would love to meet up in a park one weekend. Carole and John
