Hi Our container is now in Singapore on its way to Perth. We have just got an email from the agent in Perth saying that they need us to pay up front $450 for quarantine inspection. Is it right that they charge this fee up front without them knowing how long they will take and charge? Hope to hear back soon Sanj

i paid £2550 for self pack to perth jan 2012 with delivery.

One thing i have never been able to understand is why so few people do diy shipping as its not as hard as everyone seems to make it out to be. I have two brothers who have moved out to aus. one 7 years ago and one 2 years ago and both did diy shipping and had no problems. I my self am shipping diy on 21st jan 2012 and just booked with Excess International Movers for a 20ft self pack and load, ship and deliver and unload from essex to perth for only £2542. I am at the last stage of my packing an i have measured all the boxes i have and worked out that it will easy fit in the 20ft container. I had firm out who told me i would need a 40ft if they packed it all which is a be joke. I was told by many compaines that it will be a problem with customs if i did self pack as they would take more time looking at it which again i dont think is the case as i think customs charge you a fee anyway so they can have a look if they want. Will keep you up to date.

we are shipping our container in feb when in the uk it will be cold and the container will go past some hot places and therefore condensation is likely. I have found on ebay SHIPPING CONTAINER 20 FT 4OFT CONDENSATION SOLUTION! one for 19.50 and other for 34.50 Anyone used anything like this ?
