Hi there, Maybe someone her can help us, we emigrated here in May on a permanent residency visa, our daughter has just completed a 3 year nursing diploma and wants to come out on a student visa to do another year here, she would be coming with her partner and baby son, we will be supporting them here - housing, food ect, can anyone advise what she will need to do or any costs we might have? Hi, We are flying out on the 18th of May and will spend our first week in Sydney, we are looking to settle in Wollongong as my husband ahs a job in Port Kemba, we are going to rent at first but would like to buy as soon as possible - could you suggest any areas that are good and of course any we should avoid? we would appreciate any help and advice you may have - also on renting on our arrival. We are flying out to Sydney on 18th May, we are going to hang around there in a small hotel for approx 1 week - then make our way down to Wollongong where we have jobs, does anyone know how difficult/straight forward it would be to rent short term fully furnished? (2 adults) we would be looking at buying as soon as we have sussed out areas etc. Any help or advise would be great.

Jacquena, We will be shipping our stuff in the next few weeks to Wollongong and will be using Britannia Lanes - we intend to leave mid - May, we are based in Truro, Cornwall, we found them to be competitive and would love to hear of any of your plans, timescale etc. we would be happy to share our tale with you. Hi All, wanted to share our timeline, Nomination 05/10/12 application 17/10/12 meds 23/11/12, applied via agent DRC (Emgration Group) just short of 6 months total hell waiting heard today we have our visa granted - good luck and best wishes to all waiting planning to head out to Wollongong soon PS we are 47 and 48 best wishes to you all

Thanks for taking time to reply Candy Girl, I was just wondering if we have'nt heard anything since our meds in November whether that means they must be ok? or if we would have heard by now as I have noticed that most people on this thread quote that their meds were referred a week or so after they'd had them, so i'm guessing that global health must have contacted them. thanks again D & P

Hi All, Applied for ENS186 on October 5th 2012 and had medicals on the 23/11/12 - we have heard nothing at all since, the the doctor at my medical called me a week later and said she had submitted my results with a query over a chest xray, I took a private xray straight away which confirmed nothing sinister so that was sent to accompany the original. We have heard nothing at all since, after reading some of the replies on here should we asume that these are ok? I imagine if there was a problem I would have been referred by now? we have not been appointed a CO yet as far as we know, we have spoken to our adgent who says there is no way of checking these on the new system. Any info from anyone on this thread about how you know if you are being referred or not would be grateful - it would be nice to have one less thing to worry about Thanks, D & P

This was Pickfords! they advised that if we should buy a new hoover for example we should remove it from the box and use it, clean it and then pack it! this all seems a little over the top to me.

Hi, I too am wondering what I should take/not take, We are going to Syney hopefully around September time, we have just had removal/shipping company in for a quote and they have told us that all new goods purchased and still in the wrapper may be liable for 20% import tax on OZ. we have just bought new saucepans to take with us and he suggested we should "distress" them and make them looked used!!! has anyone else heard this as I don't want to start denting my brand new (expensive) saucepans.
