  1. Hi Lynette, We have received a few quotes - just can't believe it is going to cost more to take Molly out than for the 4 of us!! But I couldn't leave her - she is like another baby (makes me rather sad I know). Not sure who we are going to go with yet. Hubby left yesterday for Oz so we haven't had a chance to go through the quotes yet. We are going to use a shipping company I think - don't think I could face adding that to my pile of things to do - esp as OH is away until Christmas:laugh: I agree with you about the drive to Heathrow - not going to be fun  Sarah
  2. Hi all, Hoping someone can help. We have been looking at various pet transporters to take our beloved Molly the mutt to Perth. Our quotes are coming back based on flying her out of Heathrow - has anyone used a reputable company that has an "all-in-price" from Scotland (Ive been told she can't fly from Scotland so it would be transit to heathrow)??? Thanks. Sarah
  3. Hey there - not been on in a while - things are moving fast for everyone  OH has now booked his flights & leaves a week tomorrow. Fingers crossed he gets a job quickly as I don't want to be hanging back here for ant longer that I have too!!! Now that its "game on" I just want to get going. Work have agreed to me having slightly reduced hours re childcare whilst OH is away - it was like drawing teeth getting them to agree to meusing my hoidays to get a 4 day week though (shortsighted of them!) Roll on Christmas!!!
  4. Morning All, Hope you are all well this fine morning - had a busy weekend  OH has flights booked for 14th October & is being put up by some friends in Perth for a few weeks. All going so quickly I feel as if my head is constantly spinning :spinny: Now I just have to ask my work if I can tweak my hours so I do nursery drop off & pick up - not sure how that is going to go down  Wish me luck!!!!
  5. Hey Iza, Don't know if it will impact. I found our case officer really helpful - even got a best wishes from him once we got the grant. Play it canny!
  6. We couldn't find anything to say that we had to send our passports away - do we??? And where to??? :err::confused:
  7. I understand your dilemma. We thought about this for a long time & decided OH would go out first. The boys are 18 months & 3.5 yrs so we want to minimise the disruption to them. The negative thing is that I am left here working fulltime with the 2 boys & no family support. Not looking forward to that!!:arghh: But the benefit is that when do we go out, OH will have secured a job (hopefully) & a car & have found us somewhere to live. Fingers crossed
  8. You are brave !! Maybe if I didn't have kids I would be keen to just upsticks & see what pans out. Would be exciting :daydreaming: But reality check!!! I will have to wait til Jan 12 whislt the OH is enjoying the aussie sunshine!!
  9. OH is going out hopefully w/c 10th Oct so been looking at flights for him first. Want to get set up. Tried usual sites & had him call Trailfinders yesterday. Got home last night & he said that there was nothing with Trailblazers  Needless to say he is going to call Trailfinders today - been a while but thought it may work out worthwhile for him to get a basic round the world ticket as he will will be coming back at Christmas to collect us!:jiggy:
  10. Anybody started looking at flights yet? OH is hoping to go out to Perth in a few weeks & we have been trawling for good deals - just wondered if anyone had any good websites :notworthy:
  11. Fantastic news !!! :jiggy:Congratulations !!! What are your plans - apart from having a tipple tonight to celebrate!!!
  12. Hi Iza, I'm an accountant too & qualified over 10 years as well, however my experience is in the construction industry. I have not started looking for jobs and don't intend to for the next wee while. So I can't help on the reruitment front as yet. One if the reasons we are moving to Oz is for a better overall life with the boys and to us it means me working part-time (hopefully!!). Therefore our priority is for the OH to get a job first & then for me to work my notice prior to myself & the kids moving out. I have friends in Perth & they gave me Michael Page & Hays as a first port of call. Hope that helps. Sarah
  13. Congratluations Helen!!!! I know how you feel - we sat down with a glass of bubbly last night and started making lists of everything we have to do to get out to oz - never mind what we have to do when we get there!!! Hope you enjoy the fizz this evening !!
  14. Thanks for that Lebourvellec. I had already emailed my case officer before you had posted. He came back this morning saying that as he had not attached condition 8502 to our visa my OH can head out straight away. OH & I had a chat last night & depending on what the recruitment agency says today, we are hoping he might head off in a few weeks. The plan is for him to get set up asap & for myself & the bambinos to head out after Christmas. Only downside is that I will be a sinlge mum with a fulltime job for the next few months aaargh:arghh:
  15. Thanks everyone!! Been out to buy some champagne - & it's even a school night  Going to sit down with OH tonight & talk over the next move. Just been reading paperwork - doesn't say anything about me having to activate as primary applicant. Think I will email CO just to be sure OH can do the recce trip whilst I am working my notice. Head has been buzzing all day with everything we need to think about :spinny::yellow_guy_crazy_ty
  16. BIG CONGRATS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS THEIR VISAS!!!! We have been on holiday for the last week &7 a half so good news to see everyone moving forward. And guess what - we have our visa too!!!!:laugh::biglaugh::yes::smile: Loads of emotions - but v excited. Haven't read all the chat yet - but now the plans start!!! Sarah
  17. Dont's worry Helen, I am sure you will get a CO assigned soon. Have you applied via an agent or are you doing it yourself?? From reading the June thread it appears that some agents need a "gentle" nudge to push things along. Sarah
  18. We booked ours in Edinburgh - I take it none of you had problems with EHeath? I had to get my case officer to email me the forms with our Ehealth ref nos as the links had disappeared from our document checklist. However, when we got to the clinic my details were showing on Ehealth but not OH & kids. I am guessing because of this there will nto be a quick turnaround. Orla, we managed to get an appointment on the Monday for the Thursday but then that is up in Scotland so may be different down your way. Plus - tea!!! AND biscuits!!! I was glad that I took snacks & toys for the kids as there was really nothing there - 2.5 hours is a long time to keep them amused!!

    e health

Hey there. We were having probs seeing the forms too so I emailed our CO who said that they were having issues with E health. He gave me the Health request ID numbers for all of us & told us to fill in the forms manually for the medicals. We went to have our medicals done today - they could see me on the system by not hubby or the kids - plus their ref nos weren't working. Who knows what is going on!!! They took our passport photos but still took the digital ones with the hope that they can get it sorted out. Wait & see!!! Have to say ridiculous amount of money for what they actually do!!! But means to an end
  21. hey - yes I found it really useful reading how the June gang were getting on as they are that bit further ahead. All the best with your application. I still can't believe that we got a case officer on Monday  - only a week after we lodged the application. Madness
  22. Be careful though - part of the requirement from my skills assessment body was that I took the academic test. I personally found the writing the most difficult. I definitely would recommend doing some examples & make sure you time yourself as well.
  23. Iza - there is another post relating to activating your visa. You may want to read that. From what I can gather it depends on whether there are conditions attached to the visa once granted. Sarah
