    This looks amazing!!
  2. As mentioned above. I am also a building surveyor and when introducing myself as such most employment agents turned away not interested. I however being older i have 15 years experience and I am chartered through IOB and therefore classified as a project manager/ contracts manager. Amazing how employment agencies are now interested! Im very lucky that I sailed through VETASSESS, now just the final stages of the visa application. I feel very sorry for graduate surveyors just now as there is no work in uk to gain the experience to move on. He will also find the rics will not allow him to start his APC until he has a job. A cruel circle. S
  3. Thank you to all your replies. Car rental is now organised but still not sure where to stay for a stop over for two different locations on route. Any suggestions please.
  4. I sent a pm yesterday but no response yet. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had a reply back. cheers
  5. Hi, thanks for your post. Looks like we need an eVisitor (subclass 651) visa which is free.
  6. Hi, Were just about to book flights for a 3 week holiday/reccie, do we need a visa to enter Oz from the UK? One flight company we contacted mentioned £20 each for a visa, any info please. thanks
  7. hi, thanks for your reply. We are just researching options at the moment but are considering the coastal road. Checking a map the coastal road looks to take longer and we would also plan an over night stop like yourself. We are planning a reccie on suburbs when in Melbourne and thought it would be nice to see more of Oz by road.
  8. Hi all, Planning a trip to visit family in Adelaide in March and we also want to travel to Melbourne. Would anyone recommend driving from Adelaide to Melbourne instead of flying. How long would driving take, any advice gratefully received. We are hoping to rent an apartment in St Kilda if possible and would like to catch the F1 GP. thanks
  9. Interesting post but cars/lorries often crash into houses in the UK as well. Maybe just not hitting the press like in Oz. Cars usually come off worse than the houses in UK though!
  10. We found going to this event very helpful. As I said before we weren't sure what to expect but the tickets only cost £10 each and we gained so much information on the day and good tips from one of the talks we managed to listen to plus we spoke to various people including emmigration agents. One in particular who gave us so much free advice that we now believe husband can apply for a visa without an agent. Sure we will keep checking this website, its also been a great source of information for us but were not able to sit in front of a computer for hours each day to find the same information we gained in the one day.
  11. Hi, We only spoke to recruitment agents who took our CV, didn't seem to be anyone recruiting directly. Most stands were interested in healthcare, nurses or doctors but there were other stands.
  12. Hi all, Visited 'Down under live' in London yesterday. We found this to be very helpful, wasn't really sure what to expect but for my husband and I who are just starting to look into moving to OZ it was great. We collected lots of useful information from various stands and spoke to so many people, gained some good advice and great tips that we came away feeling very optimistic about the whole thing. You definitely need to be prepared for queueing for some stands. Unfortunately we missed some of the talks due to being in a Que but the one we did catch about jobs and updating a CV was good. I think there may be another event coming up in London later this year and we will most likely attend that show to. Not sure if its run by the same people, it may have been Expo but can't remember I need to check.
  13. Thanks all, will let you know how it goes. :spinny:
  14. Hi, Heading to the 'Down Under Live' in London this weekend after reading an advert in Australia & New Zealand magazine I've started to buy. Anyone been to anything like this before, not sure what to expect or whether it will be any good? Cheers
  15. Quoll, Hope all works out for you. Claire xx
